Someone got paid $15 million dollars for that
lol, companies are dumb
The above is at a V3 supercharger at a Target. The speed does taper off as the battery gets full, but as it was mentioned earlier you aren’t sitting there doing a full charge. You just have to plan around it based on your commute. You can charge 10 min on your lunch break to cover 70-80 miles of range easily.
Of course only Tesla has any sort of high speed charging infrastructure. It takes ~4 hours to charge my tiny battery in my LEAF from empty with a 40 amp level 2 charger at home.
Makes you wonder how American companies are gonna address charging when not at home, or if they'll lease space from tesla in the short and medium term as the nation changes gas stations to electric vehicle stations.

They aren't making supercharger-compatible cars, so the first step would be to start doing that.
I would assume it eventually leads to individual parking spots being the charging pad much like how a phone operates then eventually else won’t own individual vehicles and all transport will be city run and automated. Just step outside your house and your pod is there to take you to your destination vroom vroom.
Tesla is open for other cars to start using their supercharging network, but the car companies have to chip in for the cost of building and maintaining them which most don't want to do. Most companies are happy just building cheap L2 chargers at 24 miles/hr though Electrify America is adding more CHAdeMO and CCS charging. CHAdeMO I believe can charge up to 200 miles an hour, and CCS on Model 3's in Europe do somewhere around 700 miles/hr charge depending on the kW supplied. Most of the Superchargers at Target are both Superchargers and a few L2 Chargpoints. There are also Electrify America charging stations along major routes near Tesla Charging stations as well. I know that Baker, CA has both a 40 stall supercharger and Electrify America charging stations at the gas station right off the freeway.
Still needs the shower attachment.
The Model S refresh is coming, including the "Plaid Plus" edition that does a sub-2 second 0-60 and sub-9 second quarter mile, plus 520 mile range.
Supposedly the center touchscreen console is now powerful enough to play Witcher 3, and the steering...control looks like it is out of an X-wing.

Sure hope they'll be affordable soon.
That steering...(spoiler for huge)
Spoiler: show
Pretty sure that steering wheel design is illegal in the EU and a fair number of states
