Do you think an NES original copy of FF3 would stand out worse than the tiny PSP UMD? Am surprised they put the PSX version of IV in there and not the enhanced PSP release though.

Too expensive for my blood, but I'd have probably purchased it and kept it sealed for a good couple decades if I could, just to (hopefully) increase its value.

At which point probably every PSX/PS2/PS3/PSP will be non-functioning, and modern consoles would be lacking optical drives to BC with them.

tho i hated the remake of FF3, the "collector" in me is raging mad that there isn't a 'NA-release' of FF3 for PSP (yes i know the JP one comes with an English option).
even if they stopped UMD sales because they wanted to facilitate PSVita uptake, they could at least release them as digital downloads couldn't they?


..i think the anniversary box is a bit redundant. no one plays stuff on a physical PS1 or 2 anymore. They really should have collaborated with Sony to digitize all the FFs for sale on the PSN.

like, the PSP versions of FF1-4 shd be on the store. the PSone classics ff7-9 are already there.. and all they need to do is make it so that PSVita or the PS3 have fully working PS2 emulation or something so that those would be playable too..

honestly, i think Sony really fucked up their (digital) backward compatibility.
and FF10 HD is still nowhere in sight.

(also obviously Sony has a part to play in this promo.)

Sony already has a means of wrapping/software-emulating PS2 games. They sell "PS2 Classics" on PSN for $10 that makes use of it.

So outside of FFXI that might be iffy under whatever Sony's PS2 tool is, there really isn't holding anything back from that entire FF collection from being on PSN.

The PSP versions of 1-2 and 4 are all on the store, in EU at least. I have no clue why they aren't up in NA but it must have something to do with the distribution of the game over there. RE2 and 3 couldn't be released in EU for example so they had to upload the US versions in the imports section.
Kinda sucks about III being only in Japan but I'll import it anyway.

I would buy this if it were ever brought to NA shores. I can't justify purchasing something I couldn't ever enjoy cause I lack the consoles with proper region locks on them.
