Square Enix Announces Final Fantasy Anniversary Box

The big Final Fantasy Gallery announcements will come tomorrow! Or so we thought... Actually, Square Enix did manage to sneak in a major announcement during today's opening ceremony.

As reported by FF Reunion's Aibo, who's in attendance at the event, producer Shinji Hashimoto took the stage to announce the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Ultimate Box. Set for release on December 18 exclusively through the Square Enix e-Shop, this collectors package will include all the Final Fantasy games and a box with an Amano illustration. The package will weigh a heavy five kilograms.

Obviously, there are some details missing from Aibo's report. We don't know what he means by "all FF games," for instance, although a later Tweet from Aibo did say that the package includes PS1, PS2 and UMD releases.

We'll hopefully have final details later in the day.

Hashimoto's announcement came after some high profile guest appearances:
Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada appeared first and remarked that the FF series is not done. It's appearing on a variety of consoles. Also, Versus is still being made.
Sony Computer Entertainment Japan president Kawano followed, and remarked that with the release of FF3, all the Final Fantasy games are now on PlayStation.
Microsoft Xbox business chief Takashi Sensui followed. Wada explained that they released FFXI on the Xbox 360 because Sensui asked him why they won't release FF on the system.
Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata delivered a video message in which he shared his thoughts on the series and provided an explanation for the series' success.
