    If you want to know...
    Spoiler: show
Two noble ranking swordsmen trainees basically started bending the rules and began to order their juniors to do #MeToo things like naked massages. One girl finally cracked to Kirito's junior, who went on to tell them, which led to a brief confrontation for them to stop their shit. Nobles don't get the message and instead capture and bind their students. Fast forward to Eugeo coming in and questioning the two as they're getting drunk/high and they lead them into the bedroom where the girls are. They start waxing about how their rank lets them do things commoners can't and proceed to start molesting/stripping the girls in front of Eugeo, who can't move presumably because of the noble order and the world's programming. His eye starts spazzing again when he tries to resist it like when they took Alice, but this time he manages to overcome it. Of course, said eye explodes in his head while he cuts off the arm of one of the nobles. Everyone just starts freaking out while the other noble gets his sword. Eugeo's still in shock about what he just did, so when he was about to get killed, Kirito jumps in and chops off the other noble's arms, eventually leading to a spazzy/glitchy death and them getting observed like Alice did when she crossed the border.

To be honest, the presentation had me waffling between feeling icky and wanting to laugh my ass off. Then I started thinking about Goblin Slayer and how some people that reee'd against that will probably be okay with this because it's SAO and thus somehow justified.

    Ah ok thank you then.

So its kinda like that one part in part 2 with the licking part but more violent, i can get behind that.

GS scene lasted all of like 1 min. GS has also completely ripped out any non-gore stuff that it had previously that I feel made it any different than anything else we see now.

SAO's scene lasted longer and had much more of a creep factor to it than GS has in any of it's scenes. In GS it makes sense and is kind of a big part of the story. SAO, typical creep shit.

GS is also toxic masculinity while Kirito is bae and Asuna is a queen so anything is fine as long as those sweet, sweet yaoi fanfictions keep on churning out.

.... Writing that made me uncomfortable.

I actually stumbled across that scene in Goblin Slayer yesterday and honestly think some people are being a little sensitive there, seeing how nothing explicit was being shown. In fact, the dude with the sword probably got the worst of it, getting gang-shived by the goblins and all. Then again, he was a moron (most of them were, apparently).

Overall, that scene seemed to serve more to establish the setting, namely that women on and off the battlefield will possibly lead to rape being part of whatever war/battle is going on; pretending otherwise probably wouldn't serve the purpose of the series as that would be rather naive and, honestly speaking, unrealistic. I don't know how that particular subject is handled in other episodes, but those 30 seconds or what really didn't show much and, given the violence going on at the same time, really only showed what was necessary to convey what is at stake for the guys fighting. They did a pretty good job leaving the gruesome parts to the viewer's imagination, however (again, sword-dude).

What I'd be more concerned with is shows becoming more comfortable with that particular subject. Given the audience (just based on pictures and comments on pixiv, for instance, not that I mind those), I really worry that, given enough time, scenes such as these will eventually be played as fanservice - which is definitely not a welcome effect. I doubt it will ever reach the proportions the usual moe-/fanservice-stuff has reached (which is annoying enough as it is), but I really don't want to see shows pushing further and further and others following suit for sales and whatever. I really wish they'd just leave all that to, well, porn.

Anime definitely flirts with questionable fetishism from time to time, though on the same token, violence is often glorified while even well-meaning fan service gets spurned by some (Thanks, Christianity~). Half the problem, for me, is that we're usually dealing with teenagers in these situations. Specific to this SAO instance or even GS, such things are believable. Those in positions of power exploiting it isn't a new theme, just as what happens to women in war isn't exactly an unknown even when you swap in goblins for the bad guys. Objectively, there is definitely a right way and a wrong way to depict these things, as well, and I don't think either of these were technically wrong in the overall execution. SAO's just got kinda silly when the limbs started flying and reactions weren't quite... real? Though I'm willing to dismiss some of it as the game/virtual world aspect. Frankly, not a whole lot you can do about people who do get off on snuff, though.

There are three “arcs” to the anime. The first arc (the actual SAO arc) was brilliant but way too short. The premise was (at the time) fairly unique and well thought out, and the potential for storylines was extensive. Unfortunately, I don’t believe that potential was realized. The ending of the arc was kind of abrupt and seemed a bit forced.

The second arc (Alfhiem) was garbage. Complete and utter garbage. A wild mix of tropes jammed together in a heavy-handed fashion, relying heavily on absurd coincidences and the totally unbelievable actions of third-party characters. But the worst part was the way they took one of the strongest, most notable female characters from the first arc, and literally reduced her to a helpless trophy in a birdcage crying “save me Kirito”.

The third arc (GGO) redeemed the series a bit by returning to the more thought-provoking themes from the original arc. It plays out more like a mystery/thriller, and delves more in to the interaction between virtual worlds and reality.

Sword Art Online: Progressive announced. Visual @ https://sao-p.net/

According to reddit comments, possibly 2022 to coincide with the actual date in the story of the game releasing.

Progressive is a retelling of the Aincrad story which goes nearly floor by floor and extremely fleshed (or dragged out) story of Kirito and Asuna per floor.

My quick take: no no no no noooooooooo. I've not even watched the current arc yet, waiting for it to finish so I can blast through all 50 or whatever eps but the semi joy back then of the initial eps/season was the uncertainty around it. That tension and uncertainty can't be recreated for us to enjoy because we know what will happen (overall). This will be nothing more but filler; it's ok if you enjoy it all, but now we've tasted so much isekai I just don't think this will go as well.

While I've not read the source, I'm just looking at it as SAO getting the Brotherhood treatment. Say whatever people will about Kirito and how good things happen to him that he doesn't deserve, but that's honestly never been my problem with the series. For a series whose roots are "trapped in a game" it too often felt like the actual "game" part was underplayed. I want to know more about how their stat/skill system works, how people can grow beyond just gaining EXP/Levels, experiments in tactics/combos that could lead to new abilities being discovered, etc.. Basically, gamer me doesn't give a shit about a below average love story.

And if we can avoid tentacle rape and related skeevy anime tropes that added nothing this time around, even better.

Still frankly disappointed with the majority of combat scenes that took place in Alicization, too. Too many were one-shots or very short skirmishes at best. Then suddenly we're having DBZ fights where everyone but the ghost of Anakin Skywalker appears.

The ending of Alicization was... well, it was something, that's for sure.

Oh it's ended? In that case, I might have to finally set aside some time for it.

Then suddenly we're having DBZ fights where everyone but the ghost of Anakin Skywalker appears.
I saw a screen cap which I thought was uncharacteristic; a certain character's face was stabbed in or through the eye with half a bloodied face. I guess it all being VR (I think) that they would be OK but it was still a tiny bit disturbing to see especially for that character. Sort of interested in DBZ style fights in SAO though.

Now I get to see fully for myself what the hell this 10 volume strong light novel is about. Before the anime was in full swing, I always did like the naming convention used in the 10 volumes of Alicization. And I dunno, something about the anime name "War of the Underworld" makes it sound really cool too, especially since it was divided into Season 4, and 2 parts at that.

Sword Art Online: Progressive will be a movie... that's good maybe? Not sure... but it's spawns a chain of movies then it's OK I suppose. I still think they shouldn't tackle it floor by floor now, that's just dumb and filler, especially in a movie setting

I just finished the first half of Alicization, quick mind dump:

    - It's really quite good, minus the obligatory rape scene
    - I really love Alice and her design/character, but I am biased towards uniformed women as I think it looks smart and far more attractive. She beats out all the other cast girls for me for sure, and I really love that blonde hair
    - I enjoyed how they once again kept swords relevant somehow, in accordance to the anime name
    - The floor thing was quite funny, though I was surprised at the rate they just smashed up the tower; even I reacted the same as Kirito when the "100 floors" thing was mentioned, but was pleasantly surprised that they just blitz it up there
    - The clown character was stupid, could've been something better. The fire thing he summons was stupid too. He and the summon alone ruined the overall feel of the last arc as it was unfitting, thank god he was eliminated quickly, though I dunno if he and the end boss will be involved in the 2nd half, as it felt ambiguous
    - end boss was ..... weird, purely for being undressed for so many episodes lol. I didn't know what to think of it after 2-3 eps

I saw some posters and the intro for the 2nd half and I am really disappointed that some of the girls will be rejoining Kirito. I don't want them there lol. Asuna gets a pass, but it looks like it's become a rescue and/or team up mission.
