    Beastmaster (7/9)

Lots of BST shouts recently. Their pets have become pretty strong.
We are aware that Beastmasters, as well as skillchain+magic burst strategies involving the masters and pets is a popular tactic as of late.

I don't really think Beastmaster's strength is a problem, I think it's just that enemies have too many AoEs and status effects, so people go for a low-risk strategy with Beastmasters.
While you can expect comparable weapon skill damage out of pets, their regular attacks still cannot compare with PC attacker jobs, so player damage dealers are still stronger. As you mentioned however, Beastmaster has become popular due to its ability to avoid risky situations from powerful and debilitating enemy attacks.

Is the minimum charge time for Ready intentional?
The equipment that allows for large reductions in recast for Ready is deficient in other stats, so we believe it is appropriate.

We believe that we shouldn't make adjustments in a hurry based off of what is happening in a limited amount of the game's content, so we don't have a nerf planned at this time. However, we plan on moving forward with this general plan for adjustments in the future:

    Weapon Skills
We will adjust skillchain attributes. Pets will no longer be able to skillchain just by themselves, so party configurations will change.

    Adjustments to Ready recast time
There are no plans for adjustments at this time.

As we move forward with current and future content, we will continue to gather player feedback and observe the situation.

This might a bit out of left field, but Spiral Spin does less damage to enemies to the sides, is this intetional?
Fan-type attacks including Spiral Spin will have their damage adjusted according to the angle and distance between the user and the target, similar to breath attacks.

    Blood Pact (7/9)

We've received some reports that Blood Pacts are doing less damage than usual, and we have found the reason. The following items did not have their stats reflected properly:

    -Nirvana
    -Nirvana (Afterglow)
    -Asteria Mitts +1
    -Lamassu Mitts +1
    -Convocaller
    -Dashavatara Sachet
    -Eminent Sachet
    -Idaraaja
    -Seraphicaller

In addition, the Job Point increasing Magic Damage of Avatars and Spirits was not being reflected correctly.

We are currently working on a fix, and if all goes well, we plan on implementing it in a maintenance on 7/10.

FINAL FANTASY XI Updated (Jul. 10)

The following issues have been addressed.

-An issue in the Temple of Uggalepih wherein, after defeating the monster "Clawberry's Elemental", it would continue to remain there in its defeated state.

    - An issue wherein the augment effect of the equipment below would not increase magic damage when performing a “Blood Pact” even if an avatar’s level increases.

    Asteria Mitts +1 / Lamassu Mitts +1 / Nirvana/
    Idaraaja / Seraphicaller / Eminent Sachet/
    Convocaller / Dashavatara Sachet

    - An issue wherein the effect of the elemental attack “Blood Pact” would not be produced when strengthening the Summoner’s Job Point “Avatar/Spirit Mag. Damage”.

    Blue Mage Traits (7/13)

How potent are the magic accuracy and evasion traits for Blue Mage? If possible please include the bonus from Gifts.
Here are the values for the new traits obtainable since the 6/25 update.

    Tenebral Crush (Magic Accuracy)
    Level 1: 10
    Level 2: 22

    Blinding Fulgor (Magic Evasion)
    Level 1: 10
    Level 2: 22

    Fishing (7/13)

Can we use The Immortal Lu Shang quest even if we obtain the +1 version?
That quest may only be performed with a Broken Lu Shang's Rod.

If the Lu Shang's Rod +1 is broken, you may trade it to the NPC Jourdenaux along with a piece of Divine Lumber to fix it. In this case, the serial number lost when it when broken will be reapplied. If you repair the rod using item synthesis, the serial number will disappear, but you can reapply it by trading the rod to the NPC Jourdenaux.

    Quick Draw (7/14)

Can you gain higher and higher levels of debuffs using Quick Draw, such as 2 Light shots after Dia II equaling 1 Light shot after a Dia III?
Quick Draw can be used multiple times to further increase the level of a debuff on a monster. Using Dia as an example, it can go up to a maximum of Dia IV strength, so you may use 3 Light Shots after a Dia spell to achieve this, or use 1 Light Shot after a Dia III spell. It has a similar effect with other enfeebling spells.

    Vagary (7/14)

Can you guys implement a way of obtaining items similar to how Wings from Skirmish work?
We do wish to increase the chances for players to obtain items using key items gained from defeating bosses. Currently we're thinking of implementing a system similar to how Delve works. These key items are likely to be new ones that are different from the ones which are already in the game.

  6. #626

    Automaton Haste (7/15)

Can you tell us if Automatons have any haste caps and how haste is categorized for them?
Automatons are similar to players, they have separate categories for equipment and magical haste and the same caps as players for them.

The way haste is categorized for automatons is as follows:
From PC equipment: Considered Equipment haste
    From Attachments: Considered Magic Haste
From Overdrive: Considered Magic Haste (Effect of +25%)

    Call Wyvern (7/15)

A 20 minute cooldown is too long. It'd be nice if it was around 5 minutes instead.
    Thank you for your suggestion.

Rather than make resummoning the Wyvern easier, we wish to make it easier to maintain the Wyvern once it is out using abilities. We are currently discussing methods of accomplishing this, so please give us some time.

    Geas Fete (7/15)

Will you be introducing weakening items for this event?
    Thank you for your suggestion.

Currently Geas Fete has been out about 2 months, so we think it's still a bit too early to introduce weakening items for the event. We'll continue tracking the feedback we get from players and add it if we feel it is necessary.

    Lu Shang's Fishing Rod +1 (7/16)

Will the number reissued from the NPC be the same as when you obtained it?
The number you receive from Jourdenaux when fixing your rod will be the same as what it was before you broke it.

Is the +1 like the normal Lu Shang's in that it can't be lost when repairing it? What about in cases where you change areas while repairing it?
The Broken Lu Shang's Fishing Rod +1 cannot be lost during repair. If you lose the item due to interrupted synthesis or some kind of glitch, you can reobtain the rod by trading Divine Lumber to the NPC Jourdenaux at Rabao (G-7). (You must wait past 0:00 Vana'diel time)

    Pet Stat Bonuses (7/16)

Equipping Arktoi, my IL119 Warlike Patrick gained +26 attack.
Equipping Guichard's Axes +2, my Lv99 Warlike Patrick gained +25, then +51 attack.
Equipping Arktoi mainhand and one Guichard's Axe +2, my Warlike Patrick gained +52 attack.

Can you explain how this works?
Different pets have characteristics affecting their stats. These characteristics will modify the values you'll gain from equipment such as Pet: Attack +XX. Please think of these values as adding to the "base" values of your pet's stats.

[dev1276] Alter Ego Additions and Adjustments

Players will be able to acquire new alter egos over the course of chapter two the Rhapsodies of Vana’diel missions.

Players will be able to call forth up to five alter egos after progressing to a certain point in the Rhapsodies of Vana’diel missions.

Alter egos will be able to be called forth in Vagary.

    Gain/Boost Spells (7/17)

These spells are pretty hard to come by nowadays. The content they drop from are ran a lot less frequently.
We're currently planning on making changes to the spells sold by the magic shop in Lower Jeuno. We're discussion the addition of the Gain and Boost line of spells to the NPC Hasim.

    Red Mage (7/17)

Enfeebling magic boosting equipment and the ability Saboteur do not work on Dia.

After testing on some enemies using the Absorbing shield, I found the spells Frazzle III, Distract III, and Addle II only have an 80% effect on NMs and that Saboteur only has 1/4 of the effect it usually has.

I feel spells that come from gifts really shouldn't have these sorts of penalties. If you remove them I feel Red Mage would be far more valuable in party building.
    Saboteur and Dia
Dia does initial damage as well as a debuff inflicting defense down and DoT. It would be quite difficult to make this spell work with Saboteur, and it would also change the spell in a way that would make it possible to resist. Because this would significantly impact the way the spell is used, we currently have to plans on making this change.

Saboteur only has 1/4 the effect on NMs
Monsters which check as impossible to gauge will limit certain effects which would otherwise be powerful on normal enemies. This is intentional and currently we have no plans to change it.

Distract III, Frazzle III, Addle II are weak on NMs
Enfeebling spells vary in strength based on attribute differences between the player and the monster. In the case of these spells, increasing your MND can increase the effect.

    Contradance (7/21)

After some investigation, we've found that there is a bug with the Job Point which enhances Contradance. We're currently looking into fixes for the issue.

    Unwanted Items (7/21)

It'd be nice if there was something we could do with old EX items we don't want other than just throwing them away.
We're thinking about adding an NPC who will take some of these items. However, we're not sure yet what items will be listed yet. We'll keep you updated.

Hexes can be removed from enhanced hexed equipment by speaking to Alphollon C Meriard in Northern San d'Oria (L-6) and trading him the piece of equipment along with new materials to be added in the August version update.

The equipment will be even more powerful once its hex is removed.

    Apogee (7/22)

The 5 minute recast is too long considering current content- I'll only be able to use it once per fight. I'd like it to be around a 3 minute recast instead. Is it also possible to make it so that each use gives us two recast reductions, one for each of Rage and Ward?
We currently have no plans to make it possible for Apogee to reduce two different Blood Pacts per use. In regards to the ability recast time however, we are thinking of making adjustments in future patches.

    Quick Draw (7/22)

Does Quick Draw work for spells like Frazzle?
Quick Draw does not work on all spells, this includes spells which were asked about earlier such as Addle, Distract and Frazzle. Quick Draw affects the following spells:

Drown, Rasp, Choke, Frost, Burn, Shock:
Increases DoT and Stat Down effect

    Paralyze:
    Increases chance of paralysis

    Slow:
    Increases enemy attack delay

    Dia:
Increases potency of defense down effect

    Bio:
Increases potency of attack down effect

    Blind:

    [dev1279] Job Adjustments

    http://www.playonline.com/pcd/topics...4012/14012.jpg

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/47799

The following merit point categories will have their maximum bonus values raised.

Status / Combat skills / Magic skills

Job points will undergo the following additions and adjustments.

Each category's maximum value will be raised from 10 to 15.
    New gifts will be added.
The maximum number of accumulated job points will be increased.

Jobs will undergo the following adjustments.

    Red Mage
The chance of Temper enabling multiple attacks will now scale with a red mage's enhancing magic skill.

    Dark Knight
The Consume Mana ability will become usable with elemental weapon skills.

    Summoner
Ready's recast delay will be shortened.

    Blue Mage
It will become possible to sort blue magic spells by elementals in the magic menu.

    Puppetmaster
    New attachments will be added.
The following attachments will have their effects adjusted.
    Flame Holder
The amount of attack power gained from spending a fire maneuver will be increased.
    Heat Capacitor
The amount of TP restored from spending a fire maneuver will be increased.
    Ice Maker
The amount of magic attack power gained from spending an ice maneuver will be increased.
    Replicator
When spending wind maneuvers, the Replicator will now produce copy images instead of shadow images.
    Barrage Turbine

    Vagary (7/23)

The way the earlier post was worded concerns me. It conjures up images that instead of turning in Mweya Plasm like in Delve, the items for Vagary will be dispensed randomly by the Anomaly Expert after you turn in a key item.

This kind of system makes it very difficult to obtain items a player actually wants to use, and it wouldn't really fix the problem. I really hope we'll be able to choose the item we want.
Currently the system we are thinking of is as you said, that it would be an item randomly dispensed by the Anomaly Expert, with a lower chance for powerful items such as the Tartaros Platemail.

With this system, we want to increase the chances for an individual to obtain items to avoid situations where players walk away completely empty-handed.

    Trust Dialogue (7/23)

Can you make it so Trust quotes can be put into a separate chat log from players?
We conceptualized Trust as "members of your party" so we weren't planning on making their quotes separate from other party members. If there is an issue concerned Trust dialogue making other party member chat difficult to see, you can filter Trust chat through Chat Filters in the Config menu.

    Ninja (7/24)

Utsusemi: San has made things a bit better (Although still nothing compared to Paladins with their Reprisal, even in battlefields where shields are not useful Paladins are still better tanks) but currently it'd be nice to have other adjustments because Ninjutsu is basically just Utsusemi and nothing else now.

    Ton spells: More Damage
    Enfeebles: Duration Adjustment
Buffs: Ichi cast time reduction etc.
We can't promise when this can happen, but we'll consider the suggestions you have made to improve ease of use.

    Lu Shang's (7/24)

Is the glow supposed to stop after a certain amount of time in combat?
We're fixing this in the August update.

    BLU and throwing (7/25)

If we were to add throwing skill to blue mage, the skill level would not be very high, and it would not result in a significant difference.

In regards to the job trait Snap Shot, this becomes effective when you use throwing weapons.

The overall decision to give blue mage throwing weapons was so that they could pull enemies and guide them to their desired location.

    Character Stuck (7/25)

    Greetings,

We have determined that players will become stuck if they enter a Mog Garden with an invitation and log out without changing areas. In this case, as reported by Devilishangel, you will need to contact a GM and request to be moved from the area you are stuck in.

This bug does not occur if you've completed the Mog Garden tutorial.

This issue has already been addressed, and we will be fixing it in the August version update. We apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused.

    Chocobo Digging (7/25)

The skill values for chocobo digging are stored differently than other skills, therefore it will not be possible to display the skill value. It may be possible to have an NPC share this information, but we can’t promise this will be implemented.

    Store Rem's Chapters (7/25)

We can't promise that we can create a system that will allow the storage of Rem’s Tale chapters, but we'll look into this.

Pet Based Rolls on Luzaf (7/25)

Luzaf is a character that possesses his own style, so we'll look into this, but it might be difficult to have him use pet based rolls. However, we'll be looking into adjusting Qultada so that they use pet based rolls.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Koru-Moru Refresh on Blue Mages (7/25)

Koru-Moru was intentionally designed to not casting Refresh on blue mages.

There are a couple of reasons for the decision.

    • Blue mage can cast Battery Charge on themselves, which is already a large boon to blue mage MP management.
    • When playing blue mage a lot of time is spent monitoring your own MP.

If there are more targets that require Refresh, it’ll make it increasingly more difficult for Koru-Moru to support other party members, and this might result in braking one of his main roles in battle where he casts strong enfeebling spells.

    Pet Level Caps (7/27)

Please let us know the level caps of the following pets:
They are listed below (Without any effects from enhancements such as Beast Affinity).

    Surging Storm: Level 118
    Submerged Iyo: Level 119
    Mosquito Familiar: Level 119
    Left-Handed Yoko: Level 119
    Suspicious Alice: Level 115
    Fleet Reinhard: Level 117
    Anklebiter Jade: Level 116
    Cursed Anabelle: Level 118
    Colibri Familiar: Level 117
    Choral Leera: Level 119
    Acuex Familiar: Level 119
    Fluffy Bredo: Level 119
    Spider Familiar: Level 118
    Gussy Hachirobe: Level 119
    Alluring Honey: Level 119
    Threestar Lynn: Level 119

    Coalitions (7/27)

Using the feedback we received in regards to coalitions, we're looking into adjustments that'll either make it easier to rank up, or make it harder to rank down.

We're currently working out the amount of resources it will require to make these adjustments, so we ask for your patience a bit longer before we announce the adjustment details.

  18. #638

    Embrava Snapshot (7/30)

How strong will the snapshot on Embrava be?
Like the haste effect, it will be based on enhancing magic skill. It will also give the same amount of Snapshot as the Haste effect.

    Summoner (7/30)

Summoner just isn't very useful compared to other jobs you can place in that party slot instead, especially compared to powerful support jobs such as Geomancer. Is it possible any adjustments will be made in the coming 3 months to fix this?
Thank you for your feedback. Currently, we have no plans on adjusting Avatar's Favor. We see it as only one aspect of a Summoner's ability and we believe when used alongside other aspects of the job such as Blood Pacts it can find use in parties.

This does not mean we won't be adjusting Summoner in the future, and we will continue gathering your feedback.

    Beastmaster (7/30)

We mentioned in an earlier post that we were thinking about making an adjustment to Beastmaster in the August patch. We don't plan on directly lowering the attack power of the Beastmaster, but we were thinking of adjusting certain abilities, as below.

The following pets will have the ability "Infrasonics" adjusted:
    Warlike Patrick/Audacious Anna/Lizard Familiar/Coldblood Como
Evasion Down Changes from -25% to -40
    Accuracy will be increased

We were also thinking about adjustments to increase risk for the master, such as lowering the range of certain pet commands. However, we wish to first observe the effects of the August adjustment before we decide.

Selecting "Focus" from the "Party" category in the main menu will allow one party member to be set as a focused target.
Party members who are focus-targeted will always display current status effect icons, even when targeting other characters.

    * Only player characters within the same party will display status effect icons. Adventuring fellows, alter egos, familiars, and alliance members will not display any status effect icons.
    * You cannot focus-target your own character.
    * Logging out of the server will clear any focus-target settings.

A new argument will be added.
    <focust>
Returns the name of the current focus-targeted character.

The following new text command will be added.
    /focustarget <player character name or argument>

    Example:
    /focustarget <p3>
Focus-targets the third party member in the party roster.
    /statusparty [subcommand]
→Displays the party members' status icons.

    >>Subcommands:<
on  Enables display of status icons.
off Disables display of status icons.
