Dating a Christian

Hey all. Quick poll-ish sorta thing here.

Okay so there is this woman I occasionally need to work with on projects. (2 different offices see each other 2x a week for a couple hours, related work).

We hit it off really well. I get the feeling she wants me to ask her out. Which in itself is fine. She's down to earth, smart and fairly attractive.

One thing "scares" me away. Her Christianity. I was raised Catholic and went to private school for 12 years. I have absolutely no use for the church anymore. I'm somewhere between agnostic and atheist. To her, it is a massive part of her life. I mean, bible studies 3x a week, youth night on Fridays, and church on Sundays. She only has Thursday and part of Saturday to do anything, and that's dedicated to something else entirely (which isn't really relevant).

She goes to retreats, the whole shebang. I really don't know what to do about it, because I know it's important to her, but unless was necessary, want nothing to do with it. I mean I suppose I could go to one thing a week if I had to for her if it ever came up. I know it would come up sooner or later, she would want me to go to X function.

Run for cover, proceed as planned? I have no idea.

If she doesnt care, go for it (assuming you can put up with her stuff), but if she doesnt like your current faith, oh well, move on.

if you like her enough, go for it and just cross the bridge when you get to it.

at that point if she's willing to compromise, good for you. if not, you deal with it like a man and move on. my guess is that you'll come to any tough decisions sooner rather than later, so figuring out just how much she's willing to compromise will be quick enough.

She seems hardcore about her religion and if that's the case it ain't gonna work bro. You will be asked to attend those retreats/church services eventually and if you aren't willing to jump for Jesus then you're going to be one miserable pile of flesh.

If you're really head over heels for her then go on a first date and strike up a conversation about it.

I pretty much foresaw everyone saying the same thing lol.

We've spoken religion, but I'm not sure how to bring it up in a way to see if it would be a necessity. Not sure what to say about it.

This, she is super christian, she isn't going to change that, ever.

(I mean, there may be some stupidly tiny chance of getting her to change, but you'd have better luck winning the lottery)

Even if she were to mellow out (which is unlikely, given that this chick seems even more serious than the one I dealt with..) on the probable anti-gay, etc. stuff that seems to go with those types; it still isn't worth the trouble to fucking get her to that point.

I sure as shit won't do that again; it wasn't worth the effort of breaking that shit down to show her how absurd it was (especially making her regret voting for Prop. 8 ).

Save yourself the trouble.
