Yep. This is true. I lost nearly 30 lbs. in my first 10 days when I quit soda pop.

After quitting cold turkey Dec. 2009, I didn't have any for almost 1 year. One day I had a sip of it in the movie theater by mistake. It was dark and got the drinks mixed up. It didn't taste gross but I got the most awful headache. Like a brain freeze from drinking a slurpee too fast. It lasted for the entire length of the movie, about 2 hrs.

Also, on the subject of water, if you find yourself hungry/craving a snack in between meals, have a glass of water first. Oftentimes people mistake thirst for hunger.

Mix it up man. Make omelets. Throw in some Siracha. Cube some ham and throw that in etc. If you're eating straight up eggs and onions everyday it's going to get old right quick.

OP you've got the right idea. Keep a list, and make sure you vary up your meals a lot or you'll get sick of it really quick.

And I can't agree with the water/no soda comments enough. I quit drinking soda completely a few years ago, and I feel a lot better. I have a cup of coffee in the morning, then it's mostly water with some fruit juice (real juice, not the flavored Hawaiian Punch-type stuff) and gatorade thrown in. I will have a sweet tea occasionally, but overall it's mostly water all day.

I know it sounds cliche as hell, but seriously, changing my diet and drinking habits has done wonders for my energy level, and I just feel better all around. I still eat something like a Firehouse Sub or a taco at Moe's occasionally, but every time I've tried eating the lower end fast food (Wendys, Burger King, etc) it upsets my stomach and I feel like crap for several hours.

Now with the Sriracha, should I mix it in while the eggs are mixed together, prior to cooking? or just use it as a topping? (and on that note, can you do ketchup that way too? Would make for easier distribution.

Ham is expensive as fuck over here, like 4 bucks a lb lol so that won't be viable. The Sriracha and ketch up, I already have.

You can mix it in if you want or put it on top. I add hot sauce to my scrambled eggs occasionally and I mix it prior to cooking.

I understand your situation is different, but any chance you can go to a meat market and also buy in bulk? I know sausage isn't the healthiest, but we get bulk breakfast sausage at our local meat market for $1.59/lb. Better price and better quality than supermarkets for the most part.

I usually just use it as a topping. It's a matter of preference. However you want to make it, that's how you make it.

I don't eat eggs anymore anyway for the same reason as you... too many 10 egg omelets every day. Currently attempting to burn myself out on my milk/almonds onry bulk diet.

Yuri-G, a method that my family (most notably my mother) uses in diet is to decipher what your food is eating itself. The same principle for salmon you mentioned, wild caught, should be employed for all of the variety of meats, cheeses and milk you purchase. Your body should be able to break down fats from animals if they eat what they're supposed to; not corn and animal bi-products.

For example, meats (even red meat) you purchase should be grass fed beef. Countries notable for this are New Zealand and Australia, where pretty much all of their beef is grass fed (check out your local super market, their meat will list if it comes from there) You will note that the fat in the meat is a completely different consistency than fat in beef from a cow that is fed corn or other crap.

Low fat dairy/no fat dairy - i'd advise against drinking things with chemical supplements when fat is removed from the food, these are typically worse for you than the fat in the milk. Purchase organic milk from cows that graze on grass (you need to do a lot of research on the companies you purchase from - some may only let their cows graze for like 2 weeks and it's considered cage free or free roaming/grass grazing etc, make sure your things come from somewhere that doesn't cheat the system, like Purdue did)
In terms of cheese, look for the brand Kerrygold. They're an irish cheesemaker that has all of their cheese come from grass fed cows; most notably dubliner. If you have a costco near you, you can buy a huge brick of cheese for like 11 dollars, while 7 oz might cost 6 bucks in a supermarket. Certain international food importers may also offer their other cheeses (cheddars etc) at lower costs. This is much better for your body than something like cheddar from a cow which was fed corn.
In addition, try not to use salt, and read the labels of anything you drink - high fructose corn syrup is shit for your body, dont drink it. This will turn you way from something like arizona iced tea which uses high fructose corn syrup, and towards snapple or joe's tea or something. There can be corn syrup in like anything - aunt jemima's has it for example, so go out and buy an organic syrup instead.
Using this method (which I learned from my mother) she reduced her cholesterol (and no longer needed pills) reduced her blood pressure, and lost weight.

Sorry for the ramble, kind of tired and just want to get my thoughts out there to you.

I can attest to this as well. Making a major change in your diet is hard at first but gets easy to maintain after about the third week. Low end fast food turns my stomach now as well whereas I used to love that shit. Stuff like cheese-whiz as well makes me sick though I used to go through a jar every couple days and I simply can't drink a whole soda anymore.

Ah my diet, while healthy, is certainly not low-fat. "Diet" and "low-fat" labels are generally a trick and usually filled with shit far worse for you than a few extra calories.

Can't be said enough. Many people can find themselves losing weight by simply reining in the amount of calories they're drinking.

I remember a Mayo clinic article reporting that the average overweight American drinks about 1/4th of their daily calories, which is absolutely insane when you think about it. At three meals a day, that means you're having nearly an entire meals worth of calories in just soda/coffee/sugar-drinks/etc. Not to mention the other downsides of heavy-calorie drinks, that typically involve tons of sugar and resulting unbalanced insulin levels (with near-no nutritional value).

It's by far the easiest thing to change too, as unlike some healthy food dieting plans that can be more expensive and difficult to keep in supply/prepare than cheap/unhealthy food, drinking healthy is easy and will save you money. Water is far cheaper (if not practically free) than anything else you can drink, is everywhere (unless you live in Mexico), and of course simple. Even Green Tea is incredibly cheap at a typical range of ~$0.05-$0.15 per tea bag.

Don't have to necessarily only drink water either; plenty of options that aren't calorie/sugar-bombs.
absolutely. I used to drink 5-6 cans of soda a day - sounds excessive but if you figure one per meal and a couple with snacks it's very easy to reach that point. and not only is that a ton of calories, they're fat-gaining calories to boot.

I still have soda in my fridge, but I haven't touched it in a week. I'll probably have some on my cheat day. I know some people say a cheat day defeats the purpose but it helps a ton when I'm craving something and I think "I can have that in a couple days" vs. "I can never have that."

I personally think you would spend a little more, but for the quality of food you're getting I'll gladly spend $10 more a week. I just wish we had a Whole Foods in my town.
hmm we do have a Whole Foods, I'll have to check that out.
