Can a parent really love a fat child? I would wonder where I went wrong. Honestly. I would rather my daughter be a overly sex-positive (read: a slut) than overweight.

Edit: I would rather my daughter be anorexic rather than fat. At least I understand anorexia.

Unfortunately, this is kind of accurate. Once you feed someone enough to give them even a slightly increased insulin resistance, it only spirals out of control from there. The sooner it's nipped in the bud, the easier it is to reverse, but most parents won't do that. For people that make it into adulthood in that state, it's quite likely to be that way their whole lives. It doesn't have to be, of course, but the worse you allow it to become, the harder it is to fix.
