Found this today. Not saying where it's from, or any details. I did (very little) research, and this just might be the very first usage of these crazy fucking horse head people. Apparently people on the webz think this started around 2000... but this shit is from much earlier. I also don't know if this has been brought up before on this board, so don't flame me bro if it has.
Enjoy the creepiness (here's looking at you, Van - I thought of you when these fuckers popped up.)
I vaguely remember that video. its from the late 80s or something
It's older than you think
Edit: And the usage of the horse head mask as we know it did indeed begin in the early 2000s. You're way over thinking this as some sort of amazing historical find. Animal head masks (horses included) have been around for literally thousands of years.Theatre in the Middle Ages was frowned upon by the Christian Church. However, presentations survived in the form of religious (or "mystery") plays involving stories from the bible, usually the Nativity or the Passion. Masks in these plays were used to represent the main characters and the devil. Europe also had a tradition of masked performance originating with non-Christian religious rituals, such as Samain, where a man wearing a horse-head mask led a procession.
