So they're basically doing a VR video game in this movie? I just watched the 2nd trailer only and was slightly confused. Why are they taking a time travel/tech approach instead of just making it take place in it's time?

It started off as a decent framing device with some interesting plot elements but it took too long to go anywhere and generally became the ass-end of the games as it felt more and more shoe-horned in.

When the first one came out it was really awesome jumping around rooftops, stealth stabbing bitches all over the place.
I couldn't even tell you what the story was anymore.
