mmm focus target... focus target...... focus... focus...
After seeing those things, I don't think anybody is going to be looking at the grass.
So fuckin pumped for this Alpha. I've been waiting for this all my motherfuckin life... /juggernaut
It doesn't kill crafting, on the contrary it's great for crafters. It does however make life significantly more irritating for non-crafters. That being said, one of the two following situations will be the eventual end: either they will change how multi-materia melding works (can only request for first in current game), or it will not apply to crafted gear. Given how much is changing though, I'm not inclined to speculate as to which is more likely.
This is why they need to make big boss fights take into account the type of damage is being dealt to it and just react to the group.
If a mob takes too much slashing damage because the group stacked a bunch of warriors then it continues to build slashing resist until you can no longer hurt the mob causing it to enrage and 1 shot everyone.
There, problem solved, you just solved all the BS in 1 swift stroke, you'd have to bring parties balanced, a little magic, a little slashing and some piercing damage etc.
So if I use a MNK, DRG, and WAR then it just becomes resistant to all damage types.
What I really want is for SE to tell me that if I don't build my party with all the shit jobs in mind, I should incur a penalty because otherwise the people who couldn't pay to get carried through a particular piece of content will be upset that there is class stacking occurring.
Shit jobs is harsh too because people who say a class sucks in 14 have no concept of what each class does and why they are good in certain places. With that in mind, any zone you can clear with BLM's you can also clear with DRG's or WHM's instead - why can't MNK/WAR/BRD/PLD get insane AoE abilities Q_fucking_Q
It does if the developer isn't smart enough to balance out gear, it just ends up an annoying mess of shit gear you can't even circulate or trade to a friend who just joined and you want to help out by giving em your old shit. As for stacking, I know immediately BLM stacking will be killed off since that's really the only reason for combination bonuses, to deter people from what they do now.
There's this thing called photoshop.
Because I am not going to pay a premium for your HQ or double/triple melded gear if I can't sell it back when I find a better version (EG +34 STR rather than +32) or when I get a better piece of equipment from a dungeon or whatever. You will have to drop your prices right down to the point where it isn't worth the effort to make them. Sure you can potentially sell more to make up for the lost earnings as there will be less on the market but it's now taking you 3-4 times as long to make that much profit.
I suppose it doesn't "kill" crafting, but rather makes it more tedious as a way to earn money.
You guys act like this "bind on spiritbond" status is going to be on EVERY piece of equipment.
I'm mostly expecting Dungeon's drop to be BOS
Same. I really don't expect that of crafted equipment.
BoE/BoS for most games out on the market is usually from. Dungeon bosses/world bosses/Dungeons/Crafted gear
Why crafted gear you may ask? SO crafters actually make money.
FFXIV situation 1
Make item 1 -> flood market with item 1 -> no longer make money with item 1 because the people you sold it to, just sells it to the next guy.
Crafter has to find something new to make thats rare as item 1 is now worth crap.
FFXIV Situation 2
Make item 2 -> flood market with item 2 -> new players, new people to sell too, infact people that already bought one may buy another as they are lvling a new character, and didn't have inventory space to hold it.
Crafter sets an average price market, as the item is in constantly needed.
Gives you a sort of idea.
If you have ever played wow, you do know crafters make "boe high lvl weapons and armor" prices do not go down much, even when the next tier of higher lvl gear is introduced because there is a constant need of them till the next expansion a year or so away. In FFXIV's case, new stuff start at obscene high prices, and a week later you may be wondering if its even worth making it because of the material prices, because people/bots are churning out what you were making a profit on like a factory and everyone and their grandma has it already.
Why? When have FF games ever not been about impressive graphics?
You make it sound like 1.0 looked like shit compared to other games when it came out. It didn't. You were saying the same things during the alpha screenshots then. D:
Now those notes that make the game sound like not-1.0 are something to get excited over!
