Thanks, Thiefami. I was able to register with Square-Enix! Can't apply for ALPHA still though but that was expected. Now, I can only hope for an announcement saying non-FFXIV account holders can apply for testing. Highly unlikely, I know. So pissed I didn't get FFXIV earlier this year when it was only $10...

I thought one of the main selling points of 2.0 was that it was going to be optimized and more forgiving of less powerful setups... if that's the case and your computer ran 1.0 fine, why do you need to upgrade? (For XIV particularly)

I guess I don't need to. But I am rocking a Radeon 5830 and that card is a little old. It couldn't handle 1.0 on max settings so who knows if it will be enough to handle 2.0 on max. But as I'm waiting I'll have benchmarks and hopefully a beta client to see how the game runs first. I don't even mind waiting until after launch should I not get in the beta, though I imagine everyone who was actively playing will get in the beta at some point.

Nobody I knew could run 1.0 on max settings. My computer is half decent and ran it smoothly enough on decent settings but when I tried everything on max I got a whopping 0.3 FPS.

Ah ok just making sure nothing changed. 1.0's requirements were ridiculous and they better stick to keeping 2.0 reasonable imo

Surely you aren't saying the general gaming community are 'more of those people'. So who is this 'elite' few? The FFonline community? Again, have you visited the Official Forums? If they are only allowing existing members in Alpha and Beta they are only letting THEM in.

They said if you were able to run 1.0, you will have no problems with 2.0. PC version is developed differently from ps3 so it will be optimized properly.
