They need both long time players and those who quit after a month. Those who have been there from the start already got a substantial reward (fee discount), might as well grab some new players too.

Got my alpha mail half an hour ago. EU here.
Got, or checked your mail-box?
Imagine the QQing that will ensue when people got accepted into Alpha but not Beta.
You know it's gonna happen...
...I'm not being bitter about not being accepted into Alpha (yet). Really!
I find it stupid the bitching ( and not because I'm in)
They need long time players so they can see if 1.0 player will stay for 2.0 and they need quitters to see how evolved the game can be but
That will only Mather for beta
:3
Yeah, they need people who quit and people who are long-term players to play this. Getting the same SE dick sucking feedback from the same loyal crew that they always get will not help them make a better game.
I'm disappointed that I didn't get picked, but hey who cares, it's an alpha test lol.
Pretty sure claiming to be invited, when you really have been, is still NDAA. /check
From the application page:
* A new round of tester selection will be held for the Beta Test. Participation in the Alpha Test does not guarantee selection for the Beta Test.
I kept FFXIV 1.0 on my SSD just in-case I wanted to login and jerk around.
After logging in and chillin' with Lou for a few minutes in an empty Gridania, then heading to Ul'dah and seeing maybe 4 people, I've decided to finally delete 1.0 and make space for 2.0!
I wouldn't really worry anyway. It's gonna be a long beta so everyone will eventually get in.
But yeah, in that case the OF will be flooded with stupid topics.
I knew I should have sent in another application using my 2nd account...
