Not that I agree with them, but even if we ignored the popularity of Wii Sports (driven by the fact that it was included with a lot of consoles), I can't imagine it didn't have some impact on paving the way for non-gamers to get into gaming, specifically tablet/smartphone gaming. It's a stupid category in a stupid award show.

Then maybe Angry Birds should be game of the decade!

I don't put much stock into award shows, but it would be cool to see the deserving games win. They could've saved some time and just told us what category AC3 isn't up for.

Wind Waker had brilliantly fantastic art direction and probably the best death of Ganondorf ever (OMG did Link really just down thrust the Master Sword into his cranium?!?!), but other than that yeah I got nothing. I definitely liked Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword more though.

I mean, I enjoyed Wind Waker, especially the art direction, but it had some really iffy gameplay sections. Boating around was boring compared to the usual field-running of previous Zeldas (at least fields have some scenery), and fishing up triforce pieces was just plain painful. I have a feeling they chose it specifically because it was divisive and clearly not the best Zelda game of the past decade, because they want people to talk about it and generate some buzz. I hate media.
