SO4 didn't fuck up the entire plot ( /universe) with a single twist

Argh, I hate this.
In my opinion neither did 3. The whole point of the 4D Universe segment was supposed to be that they are no less 'real' than anyone else. With them beating Luther and separating the two universes... they are no less 'real' than anyone else as they do have feelings and think their own thoughts, etc.

I really feel like I'm the only one who didn't mind the tweest for any reason other than the fact that it broke all of the tension that built up before they went through the gate. Honestly, I felt that was one of the best build-ups ever.

I hated the twist because of this, yeah, it was an excellent build up and the tension was amazing. The 4D stuff (despite the point you're trying to make, which I can agree with optomistically but not realistically) is mostly shit because it breaks a great deal of the tension while also making the non-4D stuff feel trivial. In a way, it feels like a massive break in immersion as well, not just for SO3, but for SO1 and 2 as well as future SO games. Regardless, of what the twist ended up doing it wasn't presented or executed particularly well and it did sully the universe.

Didn't Tri-Ace release an SO-ish trailer showcasing a new rendering engine/toolset/etc running on current gen hardware not that long ago? I'd say it's probably a safe bet it's a console title, but knowing SE they could very obviously pull some shit and end up announcing a Facebook freemium title.
