Whoa, what the actual fuck?
From Google itself
So how is it mandatory? Here's how to disable SafeSearch:
Visit the Google Preferences page.
In the "SafeSearch Filtering" section, select Do not filter my search results.
Click Save Preferences.
Because that option is gone now
Yes, IT IS.
that section of the preference page now only has
But you don't get explicit results, REGARDLESS of if you have the box checked or not.SafeSearch filters
Turn on SafeSearch to filter sexually explicit content from your search results.
Filter explicit results Lock SafeSearch
It is now moderate or full, no off, off is gone, it is an ex-option.
And ok, one words are out, two words are in, the more specific you get, the easier it is to work around a filter.
How long until they take that workaround data, and use it to step up the filter, hmm?
I just looked up "porn" on google images and there wasn't even anyone naked and fucking.
Well, I've been holding out for a long ass fucking time, but time to switch to bing
You totally do get explicit results. I said 1 word searches have stricter results, but that doesn't me you can't get creative.
TOTALLY NSFW

So keep it turned off. And use more than one word. Hurr durrrTurn on SafeSearch to filter sexually explicit content from your search results.
And there will be workarounds for the workarounds. You don't keep the internet away from dirty pics. And ok, one words are out, two words are in, the more specific you get, the easier it is to work around a filter.

I'm not sure if you're arguing that it's not censorship because it only counts for one word searches
The point is, you should not be having to use any workarounds.
No, im arguing that its not that big a fucking deal.
Edit: To clarify, I don't think its a big deal because google is not the open internet. They are a company and are free to place whatever regulation they want on their product. If it's bad enough, people will stop using it. I would care if they made it so you can't find any pornographic results whatsoever. But in the meantime, not being able to find explicit pics from 1 word results doesn't bother me at all.
I now have to type two words to find pornographic images on google.

who the fuck uses google images as their source of porn

Keep in mind this probably also filters things like celebrity nudes, etc.
