Sound settings for Astro a40 + mixamp plus xonar D1 soundcard

Hi all, so I got my sound card and headset based on this thread:

Unfortunately I'm completely clueless about how to set up my sound settings.

What I've done is the following: (OS is win 7 64bit home edition)

Connect the mixamp to the computer via USB (this powers the mixamp)
Plug an optical cable between the mixamp and the xonar D1
Plug the headphones (astro a40s) into the mixamp

Sound settings in windows:
Default playback device: Digital Output (Asus Xonar D1 audio device)
Under properties: I have dolby digital selected and 44.1khz, 48 khz under format, under default format: 2 channel 16 bit 44100 Hz (CD quality)

Default recording device: Headset Microphone (ASTRO MixAmp Pro)
(Properties: pretty much everything is default, under exclusive mode both allow applications to take over exclusive use of this device and give exclusive mode applications is checked off)

Now for the more complex part: the Asus Xonar d1 audio center settings. I'll screenshot these and hopefully someone has a better clue than me as to what I need to select >.>

In addition, while I guess skype sounds fine...my ventrilo sounds absolutely horrendous. Here are my settings: It sounds very...ratcheted or robotic.

You really should try astro forums for help. This is a very specific topic that people here might not have the answer to.
