Care to quote studies on how immigrants learning or not learning a language affects an economy? I know from a personal and a historical context that the U.S. had many, many communities of European immigrants who continued speak their native languages in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and since then there are similar instances with Asian and South American communities. And while they didn't learn English right off the boat, they get their citizenship and hold down jobs and pay taxes, and their kids go to school and grew up to be a part of our cultural heritage. Most of us see that as a positive, but if the whole melting pot thing isn't your cup of tea, oh well.
