So my mouse has begun double left-clicking when I single-click. I've been told by friends the only solution is a new mouse but as this mouse was somewhat expensive and has only lasted a year, I'm hoping there's some way of salvaging it.

Unwanted doubleklicks are most of the time a sign that the switch is broken/about to die. Depending on how expensive that mouse was it might be worth it to take it apart and replace the switch (as long as you find a replacement and can solder it onto the board).
What mouse is it btw?
Razer naga by chance?
I would have guessed it was a razor product.. They go out pretty quick.
I have one and had this issue. It's decently common, check their site for the firmware and run the latest update on it. Fixed it for me.
Had this happen with a Logitech G700. As mentioned above it's a bad switch. Lucky for me Logitech had a warranty and sent me a brand new mouse on their dime; I didn't even need to send my old one in.
Izembo could you link me to the firmware update please? When this problem first popped up I downloaded that synapse app razer has but obviously it didn't fix the problem. Seemed like there wasn't a way to DL firmware/drivers outside of synapse.
my wifes been through 5 of the naga's. If you got it from bestbuy they'll swap it out in store for you under Razer's warrantly period. That's been our saving grace. Unfortunately our latest one came double clicking outta the box.
We managed to repair one of our older ones that was out of warranty, not terribly hard just a quick youtube video and you're good.
You could always assign one of the thumb buttons to your left click if you cant wait to get a replacement, you also have mouse4&5 buttons you could use as well, I've had my naga molten since may 2011 and haven't had any issues, hopefully they don't start to develop after saying such things .
Definitely RMA it if it's still under warranty.
I just had this problem with my Razer Deathadder. I just popped the shell off and cleaned it and the problem stopped. Try that before you RMA or switch it out or whatever. (unless you can't take off just the top/taking off the top voids your warranty, in which case idk)
oh man my deathadder is going on 5 years and still kicking ass
