Back in the day on WoW, in the 40's, you could do Ferelas, Tanaris, or the volcanic area north of badlands, each having a unique story of its own.

For me, a quest system is a whole lot better than "whelp, that crab is level 63, we should be able to chain those!"
Very true. You'd spend most of FFXI fighting mobs that didn't have nasty TP moves. When a less nasty mob came along, places were abandoned. Remember l(moon)l camp in Ro'Maeve? There were whole zones that once you did maybe one CoP quest/mission you never set foot in again.

Which is why I liked BST. I was able to level in all of the exotic places nobody bothered with like all of the various Quicksand Caves, korroloka, the entirety of both jungles (not just the zone lines), grotto, riverne, meadows, zitah, sky, oubliette, ect. I had a good time doing that. The entirety of every and any map was level material. Promyvion and sea sucked though because nothing to charm.

I don't know if I'd agree with that. In 2003-05, there was definitely a value to finding an unmolested camp, even if it meant you were fighting goblins or lizards instead of crabs or beetles.

Looking back at the zone list, at one time or another, I had an exp party in nearly every zone from TAU or earlier.

I'm hoping the 7th is benchmark release.

I want to finish my new rig.

This is what I think too. Only because he said for Legacy and everyone else to check the web site on the 7th. If it was just the beta sign up, the Legacy members wouldn't need to see it.

Maybe we can claim our legacy "mark" or whatever.

There's probably going to be a new trailer too. I don't see them opening Beta registration without one.
