Galka female reminds me of Aman female in TERA. Shit's gross as fuck.

That highlander female is looking sexy as fuck though, IDK why!

If FFXIV got the same number of subs as FFXI at some point it would be a spectacular result considering where it was.

Too be honest I hear a lot of hype from people who never wanted to even try FFXIV some big WoW streamers are planning to check it out too, One was even in the alpha and hes praising it all day long and he has like 3-4k viewers on normal so I think at least the first month it will have a lot of players. Question is can it keep them?

If we assume XIV has what it takes to be a runaway hit (which seems to be the case), the line that separates normal success and WoW-like success depends entirely on the marketing machine. Not just on the part of SE but us too

    Go viral and go gold

If anything, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of it being a sleeper hit imo. I wouldn't be surprised if it steadily gained momentum post launch through word of mouth etc., but that depends on the outcome of the launch.

They put zero effort into the last launch as far as marketing. They hardly ever do for any game. I've never understood it. I really hope they bombard people with commercials/articles/ads.

I saw Elder Scrolls MMO trending on Twitter the other day. I've never seen FFXIV trending. Definitely more hype around the former. But that doesn't say much considering Rift and SWOTR were meant to be huge.

Elder Scrolls is also plastered all over IGN and sponsors the Daily Fix.

exactly my thoughts. the game seems well designed and therefore will make a huge success if they spend more on marketing. but I do not agree they hardly do for any game, anyone remember FF13 market campaign?

on the same note, I play aion & GW2 and I rarely find players who knows about FFXIV. and the ones they do know, they have the worst kind of idea about it " this going to be another hello kitty online" sort of mentality

side note: I love the way he mentions visitors from other MMOs and business aspects in his letters, it is indirectly shows a lot of respect for the readers by not considering them 9 years old kids.

    Personally, I'd be happy it the game only had average/above-average success D;

Ok, I give you XIII. It is a huge market for them. Hence why there are fucking three of them >.> Stop already. Aside from XIII though, not much of anything. XIV has gotten a lot since launch. Almost all bad. A lot of people have heard of it simply from the debacle that it has been fixing it. They need to focus on getting this new version out to the public. I want it to do well. I don't think it'll ever be mainstream the way WoW is, but I don't need it to be to play the shit out of it.

  16. #76

A lot of people that know about it aren't interested because of the type of people that typically play SE MMO's. The ones that are interested from other games usually have plans to play with the same people from that other game.

I'm expecting Rift numbers. Maybe slightly more. Anything more than that will be great for FFXIV, considering the general "What is that?" "Isn't it that terrible game?" "I saw the videos and it looks shit" mentality.

When I saw it trending it was a promoted trend, it wasn't legitimately trending.

I see. That explains it then. Not a bad marketing tactic though I don't agree with the idea of sponsored trends/tweets, it kinda defeats the point of Twitter.

The 1.6 million views of the trailer YouTube in 3 days didn't happen by its self.
