The Sopranos goat ending goat show
Endings are hard to stick because people get in their heads ahead of time what they expect the ending to be and when they are presented with something that SUBVERTS EXPECTATIONS they get real mad about it. Now that is not to say that sometimes the ending is actually shit like GOT but plenty of shows have okay-ish endings that get touted as OMG WORST ENDING EVER because people let their fandom take over and ruin it for them.
honestly i think tv writers just don't know how to end shows
the worst are the ones where everything was a dream from the start. that shits brutal lol
it basically was just a cut without all the stuff that happened after meeting her, but yeah
the creators still "stand by the original ending"
The Americans probably had the best TV ending I can remember.
like idk if I really need to tag this, but just in case

Also he apparently confirmed it won't return to Miami.Phillips—who has an interesting relationship with the series, in so far as most people divide the “good” and “bad” seasons of Dexter at the same point he left the series, after running it for its first four seasons—has stated that the just-announced revival series won’t “undo” anything that already happened on the series. But, Phillips noted in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter’s TV’s Top 5 podcast, “So far as the ending of the show, this will have no resemblance to how the original finale was. It’s a great opportunity to write a second finale.”
Phillips went on to add that, while it’s explicitly not why the new series is being made, “This is an opportunity to make that right,” in reference to the disappointing response to the show’s original 2013 finale. The new series won’t serve as a direct sequel to said logging odyssey, either, instead jumping forward the same amount of time as has passed in the real world, during which we can only assume Dexter has murdered himself a whole forest worth of trees. “We want this to not be Dexter Season 9,” Phillips said, while still making clear that, “We’re not going to betray the audience and say, ‘Whoops, that was all a dream.’ What happened in the first eight years happened in the first eight years.”
i bet they will handwave away the lumberjack thing immediately, i wouldnt be surprised if the show picks up immediately in a new city and the lumberjack phase is just mentioned in passing lol

Clancy Brown is joining Showtime’s Dexter revival as a lead opposite Michael C. Hall, Deadline has confirmed.
Brown will play villain Kurt Caldwell. Per the official description: “Caldwell was born and raised in the town of Iron Lake. In fact, some consider him the unofficial mayor of their small town. He’s realized the American dream by going from driving big rigs, just like his father did, to now owning several trucks and the local truck stop. Powerful, generous, loved by everyone – he’s a true man of the people. If he’s got your back, consider yourself blessed. But should you cross Kurt, or hurt anyone that he cares for… God help you.”
It appears this Iron Lake is set in New York.
