Mclain is 23, hardly a bust. He needs the structure and discipline that they'll be able to give him. Everyone says he's one of the smartest LB's they've worked with/watched tape with. I think he'll blow up there. Good pick up.

In a vacuum, yes, it is a bad deal, but there are so few elite QBs and then only a few more good to great QBs, which is where Romo falls.

The alternative to signing Romo to this deal, which is fair market value, is letting him walk and becoming one of the many teams desperate for a franchise QB. You can waste picks on Brandon Weeden (sorry Bregs) or any of the shitty QBs in the draft this year, or you can play mediocre QB shuffle with Carson Palmer, Kevin Kolb, or Ryan Fitzpatrick.

If you aren't lucky enough to land a Luck or RG3 then your franchise can be set back many years from contention. Remember the Quincy Carter/Drew Henson days in DALS?
