This does not seem even remotely plausible. The menstrual cycle is tightly linked with levels of progesterone. Specifically, menstruation is caused by the drop in progesterone levels if a pregnancy does not occur (yes, women get high on their own drugs every month and then feel like shit as they experience withdrawal). There is no way that one uterus would be affected by tanking progesterone levels and the other would not, unless the secondary uterus had a completely separate blood, hormone, and nervous system (meaning it's actually another person).

ya. I mean, I've heard horror stories of women who get their period in 2-3 weeks, and they only have one vag. So it's definitely not impossible.

That does make more sense. Not sure where I got the idea they were alternating from. Just having a more rapid cycle (and both shedding at the same time) is completely reasonable.

No. The closest thing I can say is that, initially, there are "associations" between something I feel now (vulva/vagina), and where it used to be before ("the shenis" [lol!]) The only way I can describe it is that, as numbness wears off and nerves reconnect, I'll feel a pin prick or a burning sensation, that I'll initially associate that pain with what used to be there, but then that association goes away and I learn where it's coming from and forget about the old association? Other girls were saying the same thing, that it's hard to remember what used to be there. I'm not delusional or anything, but I can agree. I can clearly see where tissue was reused, for example, my labia minora is partially constructed from penile tissue, but it doesn't feel like I'm still touching "my penis." It's hard to describe, and as odd as it sounds, it doesn't feel "strange" to experience it like that.

And~ update:

The pain is increasing (the after care manual talked about this, so thorough!) as time goes on. I used to be able to walk around upright, but now I hobble, bent over. The pain is really bad if I stand up too long, so I have to basically abort what I'm doing (usually trying to make food) and go lay down (living at home with your parents who will help you, priceless!) I'm trying to save the pain medication in case the pain worsens, and am just taking regular Tylenol twice a day or so. Dilation is still bad, but I have a routine so I get all 3 in everyday. One of the days where the pain was bad (and took the anti-inflammatory they gave me), the dilation was much easier, I think, because everything was less swollen and much softer inside (contrasting this with how firm/ANGRY everything usually is. ) Stitches are coming out (both the shorter- and longer-term stitches), and I had a (Spoiler'd for gross)

NASTY clump of 13 clear (longer-term) stitches (I counted)--encased in thick, yellow mucous--come out attached to the end of the dilator yesterday

yeah, parents are nice to have around! i would do the same thing when i was particularly sick. Glad you've got a set that you can live with!

what sort of pain is it? does it fluctuate, hurt worse sometimes and get better for a bit, then go back to hurting? or is it a steady, constant pain? Or does it throb with your pulse? That's the worst kind, imo, but in my experience the last type is attached to the first type, so it's not as bad as it could be. The second type, the sort that just kinda hovers and doesn't really get better or worse except over long periods of time, is the easiest to manage, i think. After a while you just get used to it, and even if it gets worse, it changes slowly enough that you can deal with it. When it changes quickly, it takes more effort to deal with. If it's giving you trouble, try screaming or grunting. It helps, seriously. Volume doesn't matter, as long as you're going through the motions (forcing air out of your lungs and clenching your abdominal muscles, etc). Then again, that might not help for your particular situation. If you try it, you might want to warn your parents, just in case you do let the volume crank up. The last time I screamed in the shower, my dad rushed in. It was a good thing, because i was actually injured, but you won't be.

There's a baseline level of discomfort with the whole area due to swelling (still cannot sit down without my cushion/pillow) that gets much worse (pain) after dilation and standing up too long (10mins or so.) This gets better after lying down, and goes back to being uncomfortable. Then there's the sharp, intermittent nerve pains (burning, pin pricks, pin STABS--and this morning, I felt like I was hit by an arrow on the side of my clitoris and my whole body felt the impact...) These are random, and seem to be exacerbated by dilation/standing, and cool/cold room temperature (shrinkage? lol) I'm okay with managing the pain, I just go lie down when I get the swelling pain, and start cursing with the nerve pains (--HOOOOOLY Sh.... Good morning to you too.)
