Over on the rebuild server (the test server that is changing the game on the fly), Neowitz has remade the Mascu race. They are now a neutral race, where you can decide which faction to choose from later on.

The Mascu can only be certain classes now as well. They can be a Guardian, Berserker, Mage, Paladin and Assassin.

Lastly there is now an option to make a half-human/half mascu race. They too live with the mascu and share the same traits as them.

In an interesting or strange move. Neowitz has announced that they are opening up a Japanese server using the new "Rebuild version 1.0", so it will be missing tons of stuff. I guess they want to test the new build on the Japanese (aka suckers) before moving to the western markets.

There was no hype or any advertising, they just announced it out of the blue yesterday. The server went live today. If you want to play on the server, you just need a VPN.

If you want to play on the Japanese server, here are the instructions :

Here is the announcement from yesterday :

Just an update on what's happening with Bless.

If you haven't herd much from the rebuild server, it's because Neowtiz has petty much abandoned it. I think the reason why they have done this is because the game is just dead in Korea. Nobody plays on the rebuild or the retail server anymore.

But Bless is having major success in Japan. The Mascu are a big hit there. So Neowtiz has decided to focus their efforts there. Over the past few months, the Devs has been porting over the rebuild server over to the Japanese server. As well as updating, adding content, and optimization . All that is missing is the mystic update, and Japan will have everything that is on the rebuild server.

As for the western version, Neowitz hasn't said much (they are still working on it), and the game director had a dev talk on steam, explaining what is going on.

Yea, Neowitz is trying to make this more like Tera. Lolis, Sexy stuff, weird/funny costumes, action combat, the list goes on. But Bless at it's core is still a 2 realm open world pvp game similar to Aion. Your safe up to lvl 29, but lvl 30+ you can get ganked anywhere from the opposite faction. There are no safezones, no karma, or anything like that.

Jae-hoon Jeon, Neowtiz's director for Bless gave two interviews with massivelyop.com, and mmorpg.com today. In both interviews he said that there will be more upcoming developer updates, so watch out for those if you are looking for more info about Bless in the West.

All info below can be found here :

    http://massivelyop.com/2018/02/12/bl...ng-pay-to-win/

    https://www.mmorpg.com/bless/intervi...orn-1000012474

Here are the main things that he said in both interviews.

    - Bless's top priority is the combat overhaul. Combat will feature skill combos, multiple viable playstyles for each class and all in all a restructured skill system.

    - Bless will feature massive War PvP that will stretch from land to sea and sky, they said more info about this is coming soon. There will also be INSTANCED 100vs100 pvp battlefields with easy access. Korean and Japanese servers also have Arena PvP. Even though the above interviews do not mention Arena PvP, it will be included in the Western release.

    - Early Access is NOT a Closed beta test. Early Access is a soft launch and there will be NO character or data wipes. There is also a chance that Early Access will be free.

    - Payment Model is NOT decided yet but the director addressed the community's worries about P2W and said: "that isn't going to happen and we will share our plans once they're finalized". Currently they are leaning towards a B2P model, cash shop.

    - The Steam version will have the same and MORE content than the other regions (Korea and Japan) and they plan to equalise the updates of all of the regions some time after the Steam launch.

    - Three features that will make Bless stand out from other Korean MMORPGs, like BDO, BnS and even A:IR, according to the game's director are : Combat, the ability to tame and keep as a pet or a mount almost every "monster" and the land-sea-sky War.

    - The game will implement both vertical and horizontal progression. Levelling will be part of your adventure in Bless and after you hit the level cap, horizontal progression will allow you to acquire more skills and better gear.

    - Their ultimate goal is creating a massive "living", interactive world. But since they want the game to be stable they are trying ways to implement NPCs and objects without hurting the game's stability.

More updates on how Combat and skills will work as well as their large-scale War content will be coming soon.

This also means that researching the Korean or Japanese versions for PvP and PvE gameplay is obsolete since the Steam version is going to feature newer, different, reworked game mechanics.

    Bless Online Steam Development Roadmap

In a new interview with Jae-hoon Jeon (Neowtiz's director for Bless). He talks about the steam development roadmap.

Here are the main things that he said :

    - Early Access will last 6 months.

    - Reduce the grind for western release.

    - Trading isn’t possible with the JPN version of Bless Online, but are seriously considering it for the steam version.

    - Overhauling Bless to optimize and improve the graphics of the game.

    - No region lock for the steam version.

    - Siren,Iblis, and Feyadin races to be released Q2 2019.

    - Plan on having Player/ guild housing to fill in the open spaces in a future update.

    - New content just for the steam release. 20-man field bosses, and 40-man raid bosses for PvE. Adding a high lvl place for pvp. Adding 10vs10 and 15vs15 BG's. Overhauling the large scale war system for PvP. Plus much more to be revealed later.

    - Looking into bringing it to consoles. But no announcements at this time.

Here is an inside look at the English voice over work.

Neowitz has hired voice actor Brent Miller to do the English voice overs for Pantera, Lupus and Mascu. You can watch him here doing the voice over work.

There was a leak on a German website. Apparently a new CM from Neowitz spilled some beans. The post was taken down 20 mins later.

In the post he said :

Bless Online will be a buy-to-play title, akin to games like Guild Wars 2, which only asks the customer to purchase the title once, without the need for a subscription model.

Bless Online also offers players with an innovative Emissary Program to help build and cultivate the community, players interested in finding out more about the program, are encouraged to visit the official website.

“It’s been a long time coming, but we truly believe the best version of Bless Online is finally almost ready to hit Steam,” said Ki Won Lee, CEO of Neowiz. “This an MMORPG unlike any other, completely re-engineered, and we can’t wait to finally open the doors and let players start their journeys.”

“We heard our players, and we’ve made our decision. We chose Buy to Play as our monetization model because we truly believe it’s the best option for our players, while making sure you don’t need to maintain a subscription to keep up with the constant stream of new content we’ll be adding to Bless.” said Sungjin Ko, Executive Producer of Neowiz Bless Studio.

He also posted a new trailer. In the trailer is says Early Access release in May.

Rumour is Neowtiz will hold a press conference on March 21st. To officially announce both an exact date and founders packs.

    Well now it's official.

Today, Neowiz is proud to announce that Bless Online will arrive on Steam’s Early Access platform this May. On top of that, the epic MMORPG will be Buy-to-Play (B2P) – meaning players only ever have to pay for Bless once and will be able to play it as long as they want without spending another dime. The brand new website details all of this, along with the innovative new Emissary Program to help build and cultivate the community for Bless Online.

What is the Emissary Program ?

Want to become a GM? Or stream Bless and get inside access ? Check out the Program here for more details :

    http://blessonline.net/emissary

    Some Important Questions

    Q. What is Bless Online’s business model?

    A. Bless Online will be an early access game on Steam, and it will be released as Buy-to-Play, meaning you will buy the game and play it as long as you want with no monthly fees. The final price will be confirmed at a later date.

    Q. Will there be an in-game store? Will it be Pay-To-Win???

    A. Yes, there will be an in-game store! We will offer cosmetic equipment, skins, awesome mounts and pets, and consumables that give services and boosts, etc.
However, the items will not offer special bonuses that lead to Pay-to-Win!

    Q. Will there be founder’s packs?

    A. Yes, we will be offering exclusive founder’s packs to reward our community’s continued loyalty and support. Our founder’s packs will allow you to have advanced access even BEFORE the official early access begins, and you will also get exclusive gifts depending on which pack you purchase. The final list of founder’s pack tiers will be confirmed at a later date.

Neowtiz did an interview with mmorpg.com today. No PVE/PVP Servers, Rather a "No PVP" Consumable, and more info..

Q - Why did you decide on the “buy to play” model for Bless over all the other types?

A - After reviewing the pros and cons of the Buy-to-Play, Free-to-Play, and Subscription models, we decided that B2P is the most suitable model for both Neowiz Bless Studio and the players. First, B2P would create a pleasant gaming environment by preventing bots from flooding the servers and disturbing the players. Second, we decided against F2P to prevent us, the developers, from being tempted into P2W. And of course, we also looked at our community’s opinions and requests. We have heard many players’ feedback and concluded that buy to play model is what players want the most!

Q - Will micro transaction or item shop things be available at a later point for players to purchase? If so, please tell us about the types of things players will find.

A - Yes, Bless Online will have a cash shop. In it you’ll find awesome cosmetic equipment's, skins, mounts and pets, consumables and boosts, and more. There will be no “loot boxes” as it were.

Q - What is the Emissary Program? How does it “build and cultivate the community” for Bless?

A - The Emissary Program is a community initiative for partnering passionate fans with Bless Online to help spread enthusiasm and awareness! Emissaries will create content revolving around Bless to share and expand the number of people who are excited about Bless. Additionally, some members of the program will function as community moderators, facilitating discussions and imparting information to other players. We will also boost and support our emissaries so that they can grow their followings as well!

Q - When Early Access launches on Steam in May, what new features will players find added to the game? What improvements over existing features will debut with EA?

A - One of the biggest new features players will find is localization, including a full voice over for English and a new combat system will allow players to have their own combat styles and combat mode even if they wear the same equipment and have the same level. This new combat system will debut with EA for the first time.

Q - Will there be separate PVE and PVP servers, or is it all PVP all the time?

A - There will not be separate PVE or PVP servers, but we understand that many players do not wish to partake in PVP until it’s on their own terms. To help with this, there will be a consumable item that players can buy in-game to make them non-PVP enabled. This will work all the way to the level cap, last for a time, and has no cooldown. At the level cap, the item will still be obtainable, but via the Cash Shop. A large part of the later game content is PVP oriented (like our sieges), so we’re hoping players will try to engage in the conflict between the two factions then. Still, if they wish to avoid PVP, they’ll be able to buy the consumable in the cash shop, and you will also be able to earn cash shop currency via in-game activities as well.

Q - Do you have plans to release a detailed “roadmap” of what development goals the team is aiming for? If so, when can the community expect to see it published?

A - We are not planning to release a detailed “roadmap” at this point. We will keep our players apprised of all new plans as soon as they’re “ready to talk about”.

Q - What are the biggest post-EA launch plans you have waiting in the wings?

A - We have a lot of exciting things planned for after EA, including the Mystic and Assassin classes, the final combat rework, new battlefield, housing, guild system rework and more. In addition, a new area where you can only travel with Wyverns and flying mounts will be introduced as well as beyond max-level content.

Q - What have been the biggest challenges in “re-engineering” Bless?

A - When we were deciding on the developmental direction of the Steam EA version of Bless Online (“Re-engineering”), there was a lot of internal discussion regarding whether we needed to go beyond just fixing problematic areas and completely restructure the system. Deciding on whether it was the correct decision was the hardest part. However, because we believe that our development direction is the correct way to go, we have been doing our best in developing the game and we hope that our hard work will be reflected in the Steam version.

Q - What have been the high points for your team since the re-engineering project began?

A - I believe that we were the happiest when our projects were completed on time, without delay, and with the least amount of bugs. Seeing the content that we decided on through many discussions finally come together brought our team great joy. Not only our team, but I think that all developers will be able to relate to this.

b2p you say? Welp, I'm out.

  15. #175

tbh, I'd prefer b2P over sub-based or what's basically become of the f2p market these days. However, the caveat of b2p is you need time to see if devs have taken that initial purchase seriously with a robust update/bugfix schedule. For cautious buyers, that more or less means waiting 3-6 months post-launch to see what other players would have to say, or at least hoping for a free trial system sooner.

Personally, I don't see their PvP system doing them any favors. Being pretty much exclusively a PvEer myself, hitting level cap and realizing the dailies I'd probably have to farm will have their rewards munched up by that consumable because I don't wanna be harassed by griefers. There's also the potential complication of mixed parties where you either have to forbid them or settle for the possibility you may suddenly lose teammates to an attack, or in a potential code oversight, neutral healers you can't disable sustaining aggressive players.

Anyway, I know they're revamping stuff, but the prior vid more or less being cutscenes doesn't enthrall me any, either. These kind of games are pretty much combat systems first, everything else after. If it remains shit, the game is doomed even if they seem to want to cater to PvPers more than the far larger PvE crowd.

I would prefer a P2P model...but if it's B2P and the cash shop has majority of cosmetics and those consumables being maybe XP boosts that is fine with me.

  17. #177

Well, it's $50-60 upfront or likely at least $120 a year (excluding box sale). And since I've yet to see any guarantee from a game dev anywhere that the majority of subscription-earned revenue goes back into their host product, I've grown increasingly toward feeling the sub model is a scam that players rationalize themselves into with logic like it's only a few cents a day, not eating lunch for a couple days, or whatever. My acknowledgement of the upfront cost potentially being too steep is why I otherwise suggest people on the fence wait for reviews, youtube stuffs, streams, and so on. Make the devs earn your dime by putting out a good product as opposed to paying them and hope it comes out later.

But maybe that's just me. :/

If it's like BDO's cash shop but without bullshit like the $50 P2W tent then I'm down

See that's just it. It'll start off just like BDO, then in a year they will introduce some sort of "subscription" like item (see value packs). It's just a matter of time before items like the tent hit the market. So maybe the first year will be good.

First year would be fine with me. Not many $60 games that I can say I play for a year long.
