I have a modestly OCed HD7950 and was basically locked at 60fps with mostly maxed settings the whole weekend, even in crowded fates and stuff. The game seems to be pretty well optimized, as long as you have a recent, higher end GPU you'll be fine regardless of brand I think. Yoshida did also say they weren't going to be optimizing for one brand over another as well, and would rather have the game run well on everything.
Good to know, I would OC the gpus but not enough space with the 2 behemoths in my case so I might upgrade at some point. Glad that ATI doesnt get a really bad dent like some other games are.
Reinstalled my 670 and ran with 314.22 drivers instead of the 320.18. My 770 pulled a 5523.
670 just pulled a 5281.
I really wanted the extra oomph of performance, but Idk what I'll end up doing.
My main thing is looking ahead. The DX11 update is said to add a lot more depth to the graphics, not to mention they aren't finalized yet for DX9.
As it stands, I think would be able to run the game around 35-48 FPS with the 670. I used the 770 during last beta and got around 50+ fps when not in the city.
Once they add DX11, now later than Spring 2014 I assume, that will knock my fps down quite a bit to unplayable (below 40fps). I will also probably hit the limits of 2gb vram.
I am considering another 670 for sli, or selling my 670 and getting a 780. Both options will run me between $350-$400.
Or I could try another 770 when the drivers mature. Still probably not worth going from 670, but the game was highly playable and close to 60 fps most of the time.
Guess I should just wait til October for AMD 8000 series to improve or price drop Nvidia(wishful thinking).
I would go with SLI 670s for now and just wait for Maxwell GPUs to upgrade, it's basically what I've decided to do instead of grabbing a 780. I don't see dual 670s having any issues once they implement SLI support, assuming they do it properly and the scaling is decent. Normally I would always go with the strongest cost efficient single card solution, but I have faith that SE will actually properly optimize this thing for SLI.
I'm getting average 40-55fps on my 670 also ingame and on heavy action 30+ (fates with 20+ mauling everything spamming aoe to claim everything) maxed at 2560x1440
I am going to wait for the 800 series nvidia cards, as thats the next "big step" in video cards aka Titan 2 (guessing).
As for CPU's, considering the raodmaps flaoting around, won't see nothing but a refresh of haswell, an dnew cpu';s will probably won't be around till nearly 2015. Then again the cpu power overall for a game is pretty small comapred to the video card, so unless the new video card requires PCI 4.0, or the new cube stacked ram or whatever comes out and is noticeably awesome for games... I'll just go video card (I don't like dual card setups myself).

Looks like it's your video card more than anything.
It also says you ran "custom" mode, which means you modified some settings somewhere in the benchmark.
Idk how well the bench compares to in game performance for P3, I ran the benchmark awhile back for my wifes PC and she scored in the mid 4000's, she has a cpu but a crappy 7570 gpu, and after tweaking the settings on high she was averaging 45fps most of the time and dipping just below 40 when FATES got crazy. Game looks great on her settings and plays a lot better then we expected.
I was just doing some google-fu research on this last night because I need to decide if it's worth waiting for an 800 series card or getting a 700 (probably a 760ti, assumed to be coming out in August). I'm currently on a 5850, and while the game runs fine enough, I know I'd really enjoy the upgrade. But as you said, the 800 series looks to be rather significant. I think the reality is for FFXIV, anything current is going to be more than enough, it's more about future-proofing for other games 2-3 years down the road. But it's always temping to wait for the next big thing, but it's tough to decide if that's a smart investment or not. My best guess is that waiting one year for an 800 buys me two years (or maybe three) until the next upgrade, but then I'm spending a year in ARR with sub-optimal graphics.
I think I read that even PCI 2.0 won't be a problem for 800 series cards (single cards, but not multiple cards) so I'm sure that 3.0 will be good for a little while yet.
I think the two perform pretty comparably now. Beta phase 1/2 had some major performance issues going on for me, as even in dungeons with only 4 people I was hovering around 25-30 fps in battles. Now, those same dungeons in Phase 3 aren't dipping anywhere south of 50 fps. The only settings change I made in Phase 3 that was different in Phases 1/2 was to filter out battle effects from others, which is like the first thing anyone should do anyway.
After looking back over our bench scores I would agree. Performance went way up for phase 3.
F that. Im not on ps2 anymore. I want everything turned up.
took your advice and swapped to a GeForce GTX 770, thanks a lot :D

Was SLI working in P3? Anyone know?
NVIDIA® SLI™ and AMD CrossFire™ support will be available at release.
Just did a quick test a while ago... Not exactly at 1920x1080, but 1920x1200 is close enough lol
