Doesn't matter how many gigs the video card has, its made to run low power, same for the CPU. Absolutely terrible cooling compared to a PC, the power difference is pretty large. Then of course the battery power draw (can laptops even be overclocked? never had one to try). But yeah to match, something like a $600-$1,100 PC, you'll basically need a $2,000+ laptop to match it.... maybe.

My old PC (that I plan to sell for around $375, missing monitor, hardrive, windows and speakers) which is about 2 years old, benched around 6000-6500 (1920x1080 max quality) to give you an idea.

I think is should be higher, I get 3k on a surface pro. But ofc thats at 720p though lol

It ran surprisingly well but now as well as I want it to. Im looking to upgrade my gpu to the 700 series.
Do you guys suggest the 770 or 780 for a 120hz monitor??
    Thanks!

Forgot to mention my 3770k is running at 4.2. I have 8gb 1600 ram and my GPU is the 1gb version (not 4gb like it says in benchmark for some reason).

    Nvm, didnt see the bottom.

My 780 would be nice if the drivers didnt eat ass. 770 is great. 760 is bang for buck imo. If you really want to push 120 frames, you will need a 780. I would probably wait a few months if you could, to see what AMD 9000 series looks like. They have ARR in the gaming evolved campaign, so they might perform better than Nvidia in the game.

Do you get 99% usage from your GPU during the benchmark?

Was only getting 80% usage on GPU.

3GB of VRAM won't really do much of anything at 1920x1080 resolution. I'm guessing temperatures are probably more the issue since its a laptop and the CPU probably isn't turboing properly or the graphics card isn't auto boosting. So probably want to monitor your temps and tell us what they are, if that is the problem you might want to look into getting a laptop cooler when running the game.

  13. #733

Damn after seeing all of these 780 benchmarks I really want to upgrade right now lol. Why do I have to be so impatient I should just wait for amd to release for price drops.

A few scores with my 780 and 326.19 drivers. I still don't feel like I am getting the numbers I should be. I am just now getting close to other 780 owner's numbers that they were able to get with 320 drivers. I might RMA this card for a new one. I don't want to risk getting one that won't boost as high as this one though.
3770k MSI 780 Gaming ( OC is +115 Core, +485 Memory. I have not fiddle with OC settings to see if I can go higher yet.)

    CPU 67c max
    GPU 65c max

  16. #736

I wouldn't rma the card. 10k score is really good and your cpu is only at 4.2. The people getting 11k+ have OCed their card high and their CPUs are at 4.5+ from what I've seen. It's only a benchmark so I would check the performance in other games first to see if its up to par with the other 780s

Probably need to download something like evga precisionX and see if the GPU is boosting up its clock under load and check GPU usage.

Adjer, RMA the card would probably give you another *used card so even with those close to 10k scores I would keep the card. I would not risk it at the moment.

And ejact damn that 50Mhz clock speed lol nice score.

The clocks look about right after looking at notebookcheck.net, seems like the 770m is about as fast as GTX 480 or 570 so the score should seem about right then it should be around the 5000ish range.

Edit: looking at the specs of the 770m further it is basically lower clocked GTX 660 if you want a more current gen comparison since they are using the same chip while also retaining the exact same amount of cuda cores, so basically expect about same or lower performance.
