Update: When asked whether the online requirement would allow exceptions for military personnel or consumers in areas without stable internet, Microsoft told us, "The blog posts on Xbox Wire detail everything we can share today. We look forward to sharing more details in the months ahead." Not exactly a comforting answer if you're an Xbox gamer serving overseas.
    Guess not ;o

Xbox, I like you. The HDMI pass through has amazing potential and is what of the features I was most excited about. Please stop doing everything you're doing.

Pass a 360 through, and play two Kinect games at once!

I feel like its already been reported Sony said that they have no plans for DRM and its up to the publishers on what they do.

I take that is, they wont do anything like checking your system every 24 hours but if EA or Activision feel like doing it, thats on them.

Actually I remember hearing something about having exceptions given to instances like overseas military... I don't remember the details.
I believe they said it was a possibility... but these are the same people that denied everything Harrison said at the reveal, only to confirm it all a few weeks later.

Sony has offline DRM capabilities, which are substantially better than Microsofts. Sony said they did not plan to implement it on their first party games however publishers could implement them.

The way the patent works is there are chips built into the discs which can be changed by the console. (Likely a 1 or 0; really that is all it would take). If 1 allow install on current system, if 0 deny install on current system.

Sony could easily implement a system (on the console) that makes you deactivate the game (and remove it through a wizard) and doing so would change the 0 back to a 1 (allowing you to resell the disc). For this to work the game would be required to be in the drive to play the game, but could play on the hard drive after the game launches. It would likely check the disc periodically to confirm the disc is still in your possession.

Best part is all of this can be done without internet.

You mean you guys thought Sony wasn't doing something similar? I thought that was a given... give-in? stupid spelling phrases I've used my whole life but never spelling them.

If anything, Microsoft was smarter by announcing it first and not trying to be overtly sneaky about it.

Sony might be doing something similar but could just as well cancel that plan and just launch a software update to enable / disable such behavior, because really, at this point even the Sony haters would have to admit "victory" (why are we still having console wars anyway?) if they choose to go the "open" console way.

If anything Sony should cash-in on the freedom hype before MS can backpedal and offer an update to the Xbone to disable the always online.

Didn't read the thread but have seen the statements from Microsoft and the XBOX team.

I put my money where my mouth is and cancelled my Live account. I enjoyed XBOX and even 360 for awhile but I can't support the direction they are moving.

No rant, just doing what I think will help them reconsider the most.

The problem is that you're in the minority. A lot of people are still going to buy Juan (or Done, w/e the hell you people call it now) and so they really won't change anything since those people are either misinformed or are so blinded in their support for MS that they'll buy whatever they dish out, which is a shame.
My only concern right now is whether or not Sony will follow suit, because so far they've kept quiet and let MS dig their own grave. If they do end up having a similar strategy, Nintendo will stay the only normal consumer-friendly company out there haha...

Indeed, that's exactly why they got my money right off the bat. If all I can do is support the company that in turn supports me as the consumer the most, then that's what I'm gunna do. You're right though, it really is a shame that we're in the minority and that so many consumers simply have no idea what the Xbox One Direction is.

    (Launch Title)
The Xbox One has finally been announced, with more and more titles being added to the roster every day. Now you can throw a Twisted Pixel title in there too because LocoCycle is coming to the Xbox One. That’s right, son, we’re making a launch title! As soon as you get an Xbox One into your hot little hands you’ll be able to download our next epic adventure.

We’ve always wanted to make a launch title for a new system but haven’t had the chance until now. It’s a pretty cool feeling to know that there will be kids who open up their Xbox One and lose their minds with excitement then get blown away by the first few games they load up, including LocoCycle. We can’t wait!

We’re still making an Xbox 360 version too, so don’t fret if you’re not an early adopter like we are, you’ll still be able to experience the loco. However, the Xbox One version will definitely take advantage of the big jump in horsepower by running in full 1080p at a solid 60 frames per second in addition to countless other graphical improvements.

If you’re coming to E3 be sure to stop by the Microsoft booth to play the Xbox One version of LocoCycle with us! It’s still a work-in-progress, but we’re excited to show you the game!
