If the crash happened in the launcher, there should be a crash.log file in the Windower directory.

It's POL that crashes rather the launcher but it states hook.dll is the cause so no log was generated from what I could see.

I'll try get on her laptop to create a crash dump when she's not using it.

Any idea why the light effect doesn't extend past mobs/characters/objects like normal? It doesn't light the area up, just those specific things.

It's the terrible default to "game_forceambientlight 1" in the init.txt. Change it to 0 and lighting should be back to normal.

I'm curious, is anything being done to fix the weird texture compression on aura effects? Lights look 8-bit and having just been on SMN for the first time, I noticed it affects avatars too. I tried changing the texture compression in FFXI config, but it seems to just get forced to High every time the game launches.

It's a bug, it has already been explained how to fix that.
You need to change value 18 of the registry to "2" and value 19 to "1" each time you load the game, after POL is loaded, before launching the game.


Has Attainment been reported as broken? I load it it up in abyssea but it doesn't show up any lights or time, even though he gets the XP data just fine.
Also a couple more questions:
1) Where can I drop a couple of constructive feedbacks on Timers?
2) How can you uninstall addons you installed? Only found an option to turn them off
3) Can you make so Windower4 profiles will store not only POL/FFXI settings, but also windower 4 settings? For example you could have a profile set to load the game at 1920x1080 with 5 plugins, and another profile to load the game at 1024x768 with 2 plugins. That way you would also be able to launch these settings with the direct launch command, which is something like windower.exe -p"profilename"

I'm trying to fix my G11 bindings in notepad++ using the find in files function using regex, but I can't seem to get the syntax correct. Here's what I'm using now:



It finds all of the existing aliases fine but when it goes to replace it just blanks the backtraces instead of using the correct digits. What am I doing wrong here?

Search for m(\d)g(\d) instead. () denotes capturing groups.

Im having a problem with windower 4 and setting the resolution to 1920x1080, windower profile only lets it go up to 1280x1024 but my registry is set to 1920, 1080, background 3840, 2160.
The old windower is still installed if that matters? and allows my game to run at 1920x1080, any ideas why it cant be set to that resolution in windower4 ?? Im running windows 7 64 bit if that helps

Profile > edit > game > supersampling on. then you can increase it in the .xml file by increasing the <supersampling>2</supersampling> number to 1, 1.5, 2, 4...w/e you like.

Are you using more then 1 monitor? The launcher caps the max resolution to the current desktop resolution but sometimes gets confused if there's more then one monitor. If that's the case try disabling the 2nd monitor and reenabling it

thanks that may be it, i use my small monitor 1280x1080 as the current desktop and run the game on the 1080p monitor, i will try that now

edit, it works now with the larger monitor set as main display, thanks alot

An update has been pushed out which should alleviate a lot of the crashing issues. This is a hook update, so you will need to log out completely, and relaunch for it to take effect.

New Hook, new bug or something like that.
When I use debuffs on ninja sometimes they do not appear in the Timers window, but instead the Whole screen becomes much darker, as if completely covered by a transparent layer the same colour of the Console BG, more or less.
Once timer becomes available again, the screen goes back to normal.

When this happens a "blank" line appears in timers. Allow me to explain better.
1) I use Kurayami, Kurayami appears in the timers window
2) I use Yurin, Yurin doesn't appear in the timers window, screen goes semi-dark
3) I use Aisha, it appears in the timers window but there will be a line space between Aisha and Kurayami.

The freespace line of course is the spell that made the screen dark.

I'm encountering an odd error:

I run 3-4 instances at any given time, but on my main character, and my main character only, after 1-2 hours, my console window will "disappear" and i'll get partial lines of text. The cursor to designate the input line will appear but only half the line above that, and nothing at all above that half line.

Also the info bar partially disappears at the top and bottom. from what i can tell they all things aren't inhbited by the graphical glitch but it's quite annoying when it virtually destroy's the functionality of the info bars lol.

Anyway was curious if this was known

I've been having this error too, but never found a way to reproduce it whenever I want it.
It's rare and random, but sometimes it happens and I need to relog to make it disappear.

Tbf though, I used to have it with 3.43 as well. Might be a XI-utils error related to sandbox, and not to Windower or Hook.dll.

I was streaming on Twitch last night, Windower4. No real issues (aside from a crash the first time around, both XSplit and Windower died).
