    Kinda like the new materia system. It's like a mixture of Jewelcrafting from WoW, and the old materia system.

    I'm sure they will not allow materia to be removed. If they're making everything bind on spiritbond to keep the economy moving, I'm sure they'll do the same with materia.

    You could purge materia in 1.0 if that's what you're meaning. I would assume you'd still be able to do the same.

    Ah then no lol. I also don't think you could remove 1 materia from a double+ meld. It just takes off all them ~_~

    I also don't believe they Should allow you to keep materia you purge. Leads to way too much materia on the market, and would destroy healthy supply/demand mechanics. We're already getting a break by keeping equipment if forbidden meld doesn't work, which is the standard for such systems in other MMO's.

    I'd also prefer there be some kind of Horadric Cube system for existing materia in order to purge most of the Low-Tier / Useless materia. The quantity would be irrelevant or degree of success, as long as there is something there to do so.

    My guess is yes, although I highly doubt they'll allow players to 'oversocket', while the Crafted gears can.

    There were a few pieces in 1.0 that were non crafted and you could socket, might have been only the sentinel stuff, but if I'm wrong someone else can correct me.

    Ah, you are correct; I had forgotten about those. Sentinel gear was meldable (except pants, wtf?), and in later patches they also allowed you to meld onto the Harlequin/Buccaneer sets. They were generally exceptions to the rule, though.

    They didn't actually outright say this. They only said that an in-game wiki (as well as Guild/Linkshell Finder) cannot be done in the Live Letter, but the lodestone and the mobiles apps will fill in these blanks. I'm fairly certain they mentioned something along the lines of adding extra features to the Hunting Log to make it look like a sort-of-a bestiary before as well.
