Good luck to you and your family.
Bregor, I am so sorry. You did not deserve this cruel fate. Everything you love is a factory of sadness. Except hopefully your new wife.
I hope that Oates takes a long look at how the series trended. Nothing came easily after Game 1, and a lot of that was because Oates didn't make the right adjustments. I can't count how many times I fucking screamed at guys on the Caps for trying to take shots anywhere besides right up to the fucking goal. If you can't get there in time, then scoop around and try again. Otherwise you're just giving up the damn puck. Game 7 was a microcosm of the coaching and shooting failures that got us there in the first place; the team comes out of the gate very strong and as soon as a puck bounces in they crumble. Adjustments aren't made. Erskine and Riberio continue to give up the puck repeatedly. Holtby's confidence dwindles to nothingness and he gets beat over the top, out of the net, etc. Shit, that game could have been 7-0 with the posts they took.
What Oates did with this team was pretty incredible - you gotta admit the roster does not have nearly as much talent as most other teams that made the playoffs do overall. Obechkin, Holtby, Backstrom, and Green are a couple of the only truly proven guys there. This season, we saw Fehr, Alzner, Oleksy, and flashes of a few others step up to the cause. Overall, though, our depth sucks. We coasted Ovechkin to the playoffs and it clearly showed.
Keep Oates, keep Holtby (he was incredible for the majority of the series), get rid of Ribeiro, find some fucking new talent. The trade for Erat turned out fucking awfully btw.
I am now rooting for whoever wins the Hawks - Wings series. Can't decide between the two. Also, would love to see the Senators pull it off
well, Erat did get injured.
He was just saying that in reference to my comment on Erat trade, calm down you sensitive sore winning FUCK!
Yes, he did get injured. Twice. Objectively speaking, it turned out awfully. It wasn't a long-term solution; it was a trade in an attempt to shore up our weak roster for a playoff run. It didn't pan out. I'm not saying it was a horrible idea - though not one I really supported personally. Just that it turned out awfully for us.
Thankfully, Tom Wilson really looked like he has some fire in him. Kid was making some plays last night. So at least there's that... and Laich being ded for most of the year sucked. Still not a very deep roster.

Also, in a cruel twist of fate, my mens league starts tomorrow and I'm gonna have to miss the very end of the Hawks game. :/
The caps live and die with Ovechkin production. If he doesn't score they be fucked.

Vokoun to start in net tonight. Excellent... I really really would enjoy seeing the pens make it to the final with Fleury benched the entire way.
But....but he's....!
