Outlook freezes when certain emails are switched to

Hi all, question here...want to see if anyone has experienced this. Have someone here at the office that has been complaining about certain emails in his inbox (note, preview pane is turned on) When the email is switched to, whether by deleting the email prior to it in the list or just navigating to it via up/down arrows, outlook kind of freezes up for an extended period of time (even says that it has stopped responding) after the period of time is over, outlook resumes functionality again. I asked him to send me the emails that caused this issue - I had the same exact problems occur to my computer when he sent them over. (Note - most of the time the emails in question seem to be spam)

Here's one of the emails in question:
    Spoiler: show

Thanks for any and all advise.

Can you disable all your add-ins and try again?

I definitely encountered it before and fixed it, but I don't remember, this was back in 2006/2007

Personally I don't like using Outlook 2007, I bet it's an issue unique to that. I can't describe it completely but basically we suffer lots more layout/look/random issues with 2007 than 2003/2010.

While my outlook is version 2007, his is 2010. I also have no addins, while his does.

Start outlook in safe mode and see if that works?

Just run that command and see. Also how large is this email? Doesnt look like it has attachments from the pic, but is it a huge string of characters? How large is your inbox?

^ That might help you as well, corrupt emails crashing outlook.

Disable your antivirus and try it. Could be your antivirus scanning the email and hosing up your system for a few seconds.

Safe mode didn't help. email is 63kb.'

My inbox is around 2gb, his pst file is 16gb (not sure exactly on inbox)
Turned viewing pane off, if I try to open the email in question, still freezes up. Turned AV off, and it doesn't help. Also, this happens every time i switch back and forth with the email (an email scanner would only scan it when it's getting downloaded, wouldn't it?)

:/ thanks for the suggestions though

Is there a common factor between all of the emails that it freezes on?

^ What Xopher said, if it's only this email that's freezing outlook on multiple computers, it's something with the email itself. is it an email you even need to read? Why not mark the sender as spam and forward it straight to junkmail and have it deleted? If it's not spam, message the sender and ask them what the fuck they are sending you that crashes outlook.

if it's multiple emails from different senders then it's something in the program itself. And yeah, start a new PST, 16gigs is pretty large.

My work email goes through outlook and i have had simular issues before..

Do you have access to the address via any kind of webmail? I have had luck deleting troublesome emails via our webmail when outlook goes to shit.

Did he say they use exchange? Also I find it hilarious that you're not blacklisting every email from "dietpillreviews.us"

Not using exchange. Didn't blacklist this since it's the first time an email came up from this site. All of the emails come from different sites, we do have webmail, but it's not problematic enough to need to go into that to resolve the issue. Can't lower his PST file. he's doing sales 24/7 and needs access to current emails very often. His archive PSTs are even bigger. All of these emails seem to have the same garbled bullshit text on the bottom, with links and pictures and whatnot.

    Spoiler: show

    example of another email.

All of that garbled text seems to be the same? If so, can't you set up a filter for any message containing that string? That way you don't have to filter based on the address.

These are all spam emails. Filter these to the trash and move on. Why are you concerned about not being able to read your spam? In other words invest in a spam filter.
