I would have been more than happy with a trilogy about the Yuuzhan Vong war. Or Jacen's fall to the dark side. Mostly because we need some Jagged Fel up in here. Dude is a bad ass.

concur. and they still could, tbh. all they have to do is tinker with the timeline a bit. although... the chiss's big debut is with thrawn and the chiss are usually pretty important to the storylines after their emergence so idk.
Yeah I think I would rather they bring Thrawn in at the head of his own Imperial fleet mixture of ex-Imperials and Chiss personnel before they go with the Vong. Follow the later storyline that Thrawn's attack on the New Republic was him trying to take control to gather the strength of the known galaxy for what he knew was eventually going to come.
Though, does Adam Driver scream Thrawn? I don't know...
Cumberbatch just seems more like the logical choice
Yeah Cumberbatch or Fassbender would make good Thrawn's in my opinion. Driver would be horrible as Thrawn. Personally I think he'll be horrible as anything other than a drunken Sullustan in the cantina.

Five Actors up for the Lead Role
Ed Speleers | John Boyega | Jesse Plemons | Matthew James Thomas | Ray Fisher
Spoiler: showhttp://geektyrant.com/news/star-wars...-for-lead-roleJ.J. Abrams has been meeting with several young actors for Star Wars: Episode VII, and now Variety has revealed five actors currently in the running, and they are Downton Abbey actor Ed Speleers, Attack the Block star John Boyega, Friday Night Lights star Jesse Plemons, and theater actors Matthew James Thomas, and Ray Fisher.
Apparently the search is still on so anything can still change at this point. These actors are currently on the top of the list. There are no details on who the character is, but there's speculation that it's for a Jedi apprentice. I'm still rooting for Plemons.
The report also says that the "reason for the delay has to do whether execs and creatives want someone of a different ethnicity from the previous Caucasian leads. Abrams has said on numerous occasions that he wants to have a diversified cast, which is why actors like David Oyewolo and Michael B. Jordan tested early on."

Lupita Nyong'o Rumored to be up for the Role of a Sith
http://geektyrant.com/news/star-wars...go-up-for-roleAs we wait for some official casting news from Lucasfilm for Star Wars: Episode VII, the rumors continue to pour in. The latest rumor comes from Latino Review who says 12 Years a Slave Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o has been reading for a major role that "doesn’t seem to be tied into the family lines from Episodes 4-6." The site then goes on to claim to have heard that the role she is up for might be that of a Sith, which would be awesome.
I don't know if you saw 12 years a Slave or not, but she deserved that Best Supporting Actress award that she won at the Academy Awards. I was curious to see what would happen with her career after that win, and if she lands Star Wars she'll be set for life. In my mind, being cast in a Star Wars movie will do more for her career than that Oscar she won. Well now wait a minute… now that I think about it, maybe that's not true… whatever happened to that Hayden Christensen guy? Star Wars didn't seem to help him out much, but let's face it... he's not an Oscar winner. So with an Oscar in hand and possibly doing a Star Wars movie, Nyong'o looks to have a bright career ahead of her.

Principal Photography to begin in MayDisney and Lucasfilm are excited to announce that principal photography on Star Wars: Episode VII, directed by J.J. Abrams, will commence May 2014, and will be based at London's historic Pinewood Studios.
This will be the first Star Wars film to start shooting in the month of May. Lucasfilm has documented the first day of principal photography for every installment of the Star Wars saga:
March 22, 1976 -- The first day of principal photography in Tozeur, Tunisia, for Star Wars. A crew of 130 ventures into the desert in 42 trucks and cars, including eight army trucks full of equipment. The first shot was completed at 9:35 a.m.
March 5, 1979 -- The first day of principal photography in Finse, Norway, for The Empire Strikes Back. The crew endures the subzero temperatures, frostbite, heavy winds, and avalanches to pull off the first shot within 65 minutes of setup.
January 11, 1982 -- The first day of principal photography at EMI Elstree Studios outside of London for Return of the Jedi. Although inside a studio, the set must weather a sandstorm in a scene that would ultimately be cut from the film.
June 26, 1997 -- The first day of principal photography at Leavesden Studios in Hertfordshire, England, for The Phantom Menace. Ending a long absence from the director's chair, George Lucas shoots a sequence in a bluescreen-lined set with actors Ian McDiarmid and Ray Park.
June 26, 2000 -- The first day of principal photography for Attack of the Clones at Fox Studios Australia. In their new home Down Under, the production crew once again photographs actor Ian McDiarmid three years to the day after Episode I started shooting.
June 30, 2003 -- The first day of principal photography for Revenge of the Sith at Fox Studios Australia. The first scenes shot feature Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor as Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, respectively, along with R2-D2.
Boyega would be interesting, I liked Attack the Block. I couldn't unsee Meth Damon so I hope it's not him.
Lets be honest, neither of the black guys will get the part, it just doesnt fit.
Jesse Plemons wont, hes too awkward.
Ed Speleers looks the part (my pick of the group), but he wont get it because.
That Matt guy probably has the best chance.

Just recently, we learned that Attack the Block star John Boyega was up for a role in Terminator: Genesis. The role was that of the son of Miles Dyson, the Cyberdyne executive forced to help destroy the Terminator arm and CPU that would make the company a future threat. However, Boyega was also up for a role in Star Wars: Episode VII, and he couldn't do both roles. Now it sounds like Boyega is closer to entering a galaxy far, far away as Variety reports The Hunger Games star Dayo Okeniyi (he played Thresh) will take the role of the Dyson son in the film from Thor: The Dark World director Alan Taylor. Read on!
While this is hardly confirmation that Boyega has taken a role in Star Wars, the actor was said to be one of five actors up for a lead male role, so it would make sense if he chose one sci-fi saga over the other. Either way, we're still not clear what role Boyega might take in Star Wars or how involved Okeniyi's role in Terminator: Genesis will actually be in the film that kicks off a new trilogy and is said to shake up the previous universe a lot. There's a lot of big moves in both 2015 blockbusters being made, so stay tuned.
Filming has already begun, the casting is nearly complete
http://screenrant.com/star-wars-7-production-begins/The J.J. Abrams “mystery box” approach to publicity has provoked a swirl of rumors around his next project, Star Wars: Episode VII. The more reports about the film surface, the less we seem to know for sure, but here are the basic facts so far: Abrams is directing a script by he and The Empire Strikes Back co-writer Lawrence Kasdan (from an earlier draft by Toy Story 3 writer Michael Arndt) and the original cast is returning for a story set 30 years after Return of the Jedi.
In order to deliver the film on time for its December 2015 release date, Abrams and company are thought to begin shooting in London in just a few weeks, with early reports on the shooting locations suggesting that a return to Tatooine is in the cards. A dizzying array of names are said to be approached for roles, from Gary Oldman and Benedict Cumberbatch to Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction), with Adam Driver (supposedly) as the main villain.
While we haven’t been exactly sure how far along the production is, now we have details straight from Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn, who recently attended a Q&A with THR‘s Stephen Galloway at Loyola Marymount University. According to Horn, not only is the cast essentially locked down, the film has already begun shooting.
Watch the video above for Horn’s full remarks.
When asked about the toughest part of the development of Star Wars 7, Horn said simply: “Casting.” Though Horn would not disclose any details of just who has been cast, he confirmed that they’re almost done with the process, saying:
Filming was thought to officially begin in six weeks, but according to Horn, “We’re actually shooting some of it now.” The Disney chief did not reveal what’s being shot or where… but most likely in the UK.We have a lot of them. We’re just not completely done yet.
Horn also touched on the film’s script and story, possibly the aspect of the film which induces the most anxiety in longtime fans. The prequel films were roundly derided for their simplistic screenplays, all of which were written or co-written by George Lucas. Horn acknowledged that this time around:
Asked if the script was now complete, Horn replied: “It actually is now.” Horn also confirmed – seemingly once and for all, if the issue remained in doubt – that Episode VII will be a real-time continuation of Return of the Jedi. According to Horn, the new film takes place:It’s all about the screenplay. It has to be screenplay, screenplay, screenplay.
So the film is shooting, the script is done, the casting is nearly complete… still, Horn’s comments are remarkable for how much he doesn’t reveal. At this point, we’re about 20 months from the movie’s release, but hardcore fans have no inkling about the film’s actual story or whether or not aspects of the Star Wars Extended Universe will be included (and if so, which ones and to what extent).[...] where 6 left off — and where 6 left off is 35 years ago by the time this is released.
Also, Horn confirmed that Episodes VII, VIII and IX are not shooting back to back – this opens up the possibility that we’ll have a timeline for those standalone films (supposedly featuring Han Solo and Boba Fett) before too long.
Now that the filming is underway, we can probably also expect some unofficial development and set pictures to make their way online eventually.

YESSSSS. Cant wait, wish Fassbender was in it though!
Peter Mayhew to return as Chewbacca
Spoiler: showhttp://geektyrant.com/news/star-wars...s-as-chewbaccaTHR is reporting that Peter Mayhew, who played Chewbacca in the original Star Wars trilogy, will reprise his role in Star Wars: Episode VII. This is great news to fans who have supported Mayhew (age 69) though his many recent health struggles. They can easily use a stunt man for the more physically demanding action that Mayhew would not be able to perform, because I imagine that Chewbacca suit is pretty heavy. Let's hope we don't get a CGI Chewbacca, which is a worry for several readers on Facebook.

Unless he just appears in a flashback, that means the EU time-line is boned.
that's pretty much a given though, didn't Lucas already say that the events that happened to him didn't happen
Hey that's pretty cool about chewy. however I'm skeptical at best for this movie. the casting for the bad guy looks like crap with that adam driver scrub.... might as well go with lena dunham as jabba the hutt at this point also.
The EU timeline was boned the second they started doing this trilogy, or "alternative timeline", whatever you want to call it. Movie > books, and they're finally doing the post-Jedi stuff with this. I fully expect nods to the EU characters, but I don't expect the storyline to slave to it.
Maisie Richardson-Sellers is up for a major role
http://geektyrant.com/news/star-wars...for-major-roleTHR reports that Maisie Richardson-Sellers is being eyed for a major role in Star Wars: Episode VII. Oxford trained with mostly stage credits, she's been added to an ever growing pile of unofficial news about the movie. Rumor is that her character would be a distant relative of Obi Wan Kenobi.
