This could bring me back to fighting games...
And here I am still waiting on +R for PS3 to hit.
Looking at the trailer, it seems gameplay hasn't changed much if at all.
I sometimes wonder if the system has hit its peak. Meaning there's no need to come up with new things or change anything, but keep everything relatively the same with some tweaks here and there (knock back on collision box clashes as seen).
The pace/speed seems slower but I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing, maybe it's due to the 2.5D/3D transition. It's only very slight/minor. In fact, I half wondered (although this is rare nowadays) if that speed is just PAL speed instead of NTSC (unlikely, considering the source) but it brought me back nightmares of playing GGXX at a friend's house who's shitty TV only supported 50mhz, resulting in me reading his every single move and just kicking the shit out of him. You kinda float when jumping lol
I can't wait to see what kind of outfit they give to Dizzy
And the annoying thing is that Bridget would probably look a lot sexier in this transition >_>
The game does look slower. But at the same time, if you see the arcade demo mode, the game was portrayed just as slow speed. Everything is totally different when REAL gameplay arrives. I have seen the characters skip animation when moves were being canceled together. This pretty much tells me the game has not changed much. SF going to 2.5D also caused too many animations to make the game look smooth, gg doesn't seem to be doing that.
*edit* seeing the trailer again, it's amazing that they used the U engine. And still kept the characters frames during moves the exact same.
It honestly looks like an extremely early build, I wouldn't put too much stock into what's shown in the trailer game-play wise.
SF4 does what any sane 3d game does and interpolates between keyframes of animation.
I'm not sure why they'd move to 3d on Xrd (even though their modern fighting game pipeline uses 3d models as references to create the 2d sprites from) but keep the low # of 'frames' visually. At least double that shit and do some exaggerations on the poses. Maybe I've been spoiled by Skullgirls on that front though. Regardless, I want me a playable demo. Unreal Engine isn't really known for looking 'sharp'. Main benefits they do get moving to 3d allow easy creation of cosmetics(loldlc), and tweaking a character's moves more freely without worry of having to get character frames redrawn.
Comparisons of the animation.
Guy on dustloop touched up Sol to look more like his sprite counterpart.
I couldn't see the difference between the first and third panels until I looked at the thickness of his hair. After that, everything else fell into place; big difference in the shoulders, ect.
I keep missing this topic because of the lack of a "fighters" tag.
Unreal Engine 3 Confirmedhttp://www.vg247.com/2013/05/23/guil...real-engine-3/Arc System Works has signed a deal to use Unreal Engine 3 for its new Guilty Gear game titled Guilty Gear Xrd –SIGN. The Guilty Gear series also recently celebrated its 15th anniversary, and it’s the first game in the series to use URE3.
inc 360 + PS3
If Ky looks like that, I'm afraid what Bridget is going to look like.
Leg hair, massive boner, hairy chest. Shit will be funny as fuck.
Is Sol Badguy's weapon supposed to look like a giant Bic lighter? Because it does.
Shit catches fire after all.
Nits, remember when +R was announced and it was you getting hype, and me + Xerlic talking about 2004-era east coast GG tournaments? Now it's got some new graphics and GG fans are sprouting up like Pikmin or some shit.
Lmaoooo. It's all good, so much new blood that'll prolly complain the game's too hard to combo etc. tbh i'm still waiting on the console update for +r. I really do hope this game becomes a higher caliber than bb in terms of popularity and all. I would really hope that i see this going to evo, make hype as fuck moments like flash's wall combos w/ jam, or daigo inventing the dustloop and making sol the most dominant force in ggxx. Too many good things are gonna be on this game's shoulders.
*sigh* i just hope people don't cry, and be stupid, and stop playing the game. Thus leaving us select few to keep the game alive.
Honestly i don't even think ggac is that hard at all.
Arc System Works asks fans to wait for E3 2014 for in-depth detailshttp://www.siliconera.com/2013/06/18...neration-game/While we were talking about BlazBlue: Chronophantasm, I asked Arc System Works president Minoru Kidooka what’s going on with Guilty Gear. I thought Siliconera readers might be curious after seeing the Guilty Gear Xrd –SIGN- trailer from Arc System Works.
Kidooka replied that we’ll find out more about Guilty Gear at E3… in 2014. “Most likely, [creator] Daisuke Ishiwatari will come to E3 next year and you can ask him then,” Kidooka shared with us.
Arc System Works is preparing to move on to the next generation and it might be with Guilty Gear. “Currently, we are brainstorming,” Kidooka said to Siliconera. “Guilty Gear Xrd is a title we’re considering to bring to the next generation.”
Kidooka added that Arc System Works are confirmed to be a PlayStation 4 developer.
