well that was... something
well that was... something
LOL wtf did I just watch....
This is top tier television right here, like The Inhumans level of top tier.
Halo has a cultural impact sure, but it had absolutely nothing to do with the story
Story is what drew me into Halo, MP is what kept me there. That and coop legend campaigns. Even if you don't think the story of Halo is worth following, I'm sure plenty of people do.
Aside from that, this show was just plain boring and would have been even if it had nothing to do with Halo. The fact it did and was still bad is kinda amazing.
can't wait for the trainwreck
Anyone watching season 2? It's pretty good.
I'd assume the Halo lore nerds are still butthurt about how often Master Chief doesn't have a helmet on, but for someone not super concerned about the deep lore of a freaking fps series, it's solid sci-fi with a big budget and above average acting for the genre.
If season 2 is basically the fall of reach and it ends with him getting Cortana back and going to the Halo for season 3, I'm all in. A ten episode season 3 where each episode is one of the levels would be spectacular. Of course it won't happen but man I would be bumped.
Background here, I really hated season 1, in like every aspect. The only good part were the full-armor action set pieces which happened like twice. It just wasn't good, it failed as a Halo series and it failed as a Sci-Fi show for me. I sincerely hated Master Chief as a character and Jimmy Rings losing his virginity to a covenant spy being the "Silver Timelines" actual legitimate lore reason for Reach falling will always be a hilarious reminder of how bad season 1 was.
THAT SAID, I've given Season 2 a try because why not, aand... it has been an improvement. The action scenes I feel are better even if they over-use fog and dark areas in what seems an effort to scale back the shows budget... and to hop off that theres a lot of, albeit explained away with a reason in the show, Spartans running around in t-shirts which is super disappointing and I think is again, a budget thing they just wrote into the show to make sense... but it works a bit better than season 1 for me.
Either way, if season 1 was a solid 2/10 for me with exactly 1 point awarded for each Full-Armor action scene, then Season 2 so far is a solid 6~7, definitely above average and even watchable. They even manage to make Chief feel like a badass every so often. Granted, Its still an alternate reality Hollywood Fan fiction series, but it seems to be doing a bit more in Season 2 to feel like Halo, if that makes sense.
Overall, I wish this was more Urban Dredd and less Stallone Dredd. A bit more "Last of Us" TV Series, I wish Hollywood had more faith in the source material of these franchises when adapting them, but it is what it is. So what we have, at least Season 2 so far, is... acceptable.
Edit: They blew it btw. Like couldn't make it three episodes without blowing it. RIP
Not butthurt, it's entertaining in a trainwrecky way, but this shit cracks me up.
Ok well the introduction of the flood was terrifying
