She should abandon all idea of making/translating her songs to English. It's very clear that the song was written for Japanese first.

Edit: nvm stuff changed in 1.5
Yeah I agree, I never liked simple & clean but I loved the original jp version (hikari). The difference in the lyrics is just... ugh it makes me mad that English speakers really think that's what the song is about.
I mean we get
"simple and clean is the way that you're making me feel tonight"
vs the original, "you are the light that I found in the dark of midnight"
ive always had an aversion to cringey engrish adaptations of foreign songs, and KH songs are no different. youd think disney could make it turn out better though considering theyre the masters of making the same song in just about a million different languages.
ex
the lyrics and vocal inflections all still make sense in each of these three languages. a lot of songs are written in such a way that they work in both softer (italian, english) and harder (german, japanese, russian) languages.
though I guess this is all moot since disney probably has no say in any of this so whatever.
Honestly the theme is pretty bad in both language
Simple and clean and dear beloved ftw
Its not near as bad as the english version of Suteki da ne they did for distant worlds.
I loved simple and clean when I first heard it, Passion on the other hand doesn't seem as fitting considering. Something about Simple and Clean works so well for the intro and is kind of deceptive since KH is anything but simple and clean.
Though yeah they are totally different songs, I don't blame Utada since they most likely thought at the time (holy fuck it's been like 15? years...fuck) western audiences definitely wouldn't want to hear a JP intro so it was dumbed down into oblivion. Still catchy as fuck though.
Oh yeah the lyrics to Suteki da ne in english are incredibly obscure lmao. "I wipe my tears off the nighttime" Susan wat
On the other hand, the songs that were specifically written in English for FF are amazing. Distant Worlds and the FFXIV themes come to mind... Idr if the FFVI opera originally had Japanese lyrics or English ones when it was first performed (or Italian? I know there is a proper Italian opera version of it somewhere) but that one came out pretty good too.
Has any Western KH release had a JP vocals option? Probably not considering how expensive the voice acting probably is...
99.99% positive that Aria di Mezzo Carattere is the first version of Draco&Maria's song which was then adapted to the other languages. If not then the Italian version just happens to line up flawlessly compared to the other two.
The track has always been called "Aria di Mezzo Carattere" even in the original soundtrack so I'm pretty sure the Italian version is the base.
Riku's new keyblade (spoilered for size):
Spoiler: show
they managed to make it look even more stupid than a normal keyblade
Someone lost their car key.
They should have made the Riku model keyless entry.
I hope they give him Armiger.
I'm talking pure aesthetics, neither a classic keyblade nor this enormous thick slab of steel would make a functional weapon
Yeah i am too. It looks way better than a regular keyblade.
Reminds me most of Fenrir.
