    Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade (PC/PS4/XB1)

    Behaviour Interactive and Games Workshop® proudly announce a new online game in the Warhammer® 40,000® universe: Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade : www.bhvr.com/eternalcrusade . Behaviour Interactive has obtained the rights to create a wholly new MMORPG persistent war experience for PC, PS4 and Xbox One set in Games Workshop’s universe of the 41st Millennium.

    In the game, players choose a Warhammer 40,000 race and fight directly as one of their warriors in massive conflicts for territory. It will be up to each faction’s community to determine their own destiny as they vie for control of an entire planet.

    “I am thrilled to announce what will finally be the first MMORPG based on the Warhammer 40,000 license,” said Miguel Caron, Head of Studio, Online at Behaviour Interactive. “Eternal Crusade’s team are all MMO development veterans and with the support of Behaviour’s 20+ years of experience this is going to be the online Warhammer 40,000 universe game that fans have been dreaming of for years!”

    “Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade is the second milestone in Behaviours new online strategic positioning after last year’s Star Citizen Announcement.” said Remi Racine, President and Executive Producer of Behaviour. “We are very happy with the progress of the online studio and you should expect more similar announcements to come.”

    “The depth, breadth and sheer level of detail that the Warhammer 40,000 universe has after 26 years of continuous development makes it one of the great fantasy settings of our times.” said Jon Gillard, Head of Licensing at Games Workshop. “Experiencing the thrill of first hand combat in this world of eternal conflict, with thousands of other players beside you, will be fantastic.”
    Features:
    • Experience the gameworld with 3rd-person, behind the shoulder action featuring precision gunplay and brutal melee combat with excruciating finishers;
    • Participate in a persistent online war to conquer the planet, its fate completely in the hands of the players;
    • Become a warrior from one of four initial factions, each unique and opposed to one another: Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, Orks and Eldar.
    • Participate in truly massive conflicts that simultaneously bring thousands of players to bear over territories and other strategic resources.
    • Get behind the controls of Space Marine Rhinos, Predators, Ork Battlewagons and other iconic vehicles of the 41st millennium; — Hack through genuinely challenging procedural content alongside your battle-brothers and never have the same experience twice;
    • Earn the right to customize your builds in a deep progression system drawing on the rich Warhammer 40,000 universe.
    • Found a Battle Squad with friends and prepare for conflict from your customized shared space in orbit – then drop down to the planet together and seek out glory!

    On the minus side, the developer, Behaviour Interactive, doesn't have a very good track record of games. Mostly failed movie & tv show tie-ins, Naughty Bear series, Doritos Crash Course series, & WET (being their best title).

    Proud and disdainful, they possess a very advanced technology and count some of the most powerful Psykers in their ranks. But they are on the verge of extinction. Their Psychic abilities and natural connection to the warp are a blessing as well as curse, with Slanneesh (the Chaos God of lust, greed, pleasure, and pain) always watching, eager to devour their souls. They can foresee their own inevitable destruction but they defy this fate, fighting desperately and courageously to prevent it.

    The Eldar race is one of the most ancient of the galaxy. Proud and disdainful, they possess a very advanced technology and count some of the most powerful Psykers in their ranks. But they are on the verge of extinction. What is remaining of their race is living on Craftworld, hidden in space out of sight of their enemies.

    On Eternal Crusade’s site you can find the final playable-race concept art showing a group of Eldar in action. Ulthwe, Saim-Hann, Iyanden and Biel-tan will be the Craftworlds joining this war. As usual, a fifth Craftworld will be selected by the community later next year.

    On the class side Warlocks, Dire avengers and Dark reapers will be some of the classes you will have the pleasure to play at launch. While the Wraithguard will feel like a class, it is likely to be presented as a weapon controlled by a Warlock, requiring one of these battle-psykers to use this powerful machine of wraithbone and spirit. Warlocks empower Wraithguard on the battlefield, allowing them to operate at their devastating full capacity.

    As I said during the AMA, I am working closely with our writers, Graham McNeill and Anthony Reynolds. The story they are putting together with us is very engaging and compelling, so we decided to share some bits with you starting in December as a Christmas gift.

    And I know you’re still waiting for a newsletter from our Lead Level Designer, Steven Lumpkin, on the scale of the world and massive level design! This is a big challenge for our team, and we want to be sure that we can deliver what we’re currently dreaming... so plan on this Newsletter in January or February.

    At least they are doing the right thing by having Graham McNeill and Anthony Reynolds as writers. McNeil essentially wrote the 40k Bible and I really like Reynolds breaking away from the Adaptes good-guy circlejerk and giving Chaos Marines and my favorite chapter, Wordbearers, their long deserved dues.

    Hopefully their support doesn't get mucked by devs/investors pushing out a half-finished product.

    Also if you're into the Warhammer universe and need a fix, check this out:

    It's a role play group in the Dark Heresy ruleset, DM'd by the Lead Level Designer of this game, Steven Lumpkin; and he does a fantastic job.

    This game launched yesterday for PC, it's on steam for $39.99.

    A friend of mine bought the game yesterday and he says it is very much an alpha compared to what they wanted the game to be, there is supposed to be large scale map battles where things make a difference, there is also supposed to be huge clan wars. He thinks the game (if enough people buy it) will be good in 4-6 months, but right now it is still in an alpha state.

    Right now the game is an instance lobby shooter, with 5 man pve dungeons, and a 50 man defend the base instance.

    IMO, if you are into the whole WH 40k universe, and are into 3rd person shooters and have $40 to burn get it, but if you are on the fence I would wait a while till it gets more content.

    I guess the bolded part describes it well, making it kinda, sorta offtopic in the MMORPG section. It might change tho, with some luck!?
