Some people are retarded. My hair billows in the breeze depending on what direction I stand in. My man-cat earrings jiggle in the wind as I stand there. Again, some people are retarded.

Any graphical issues I have simply come down to jaggies and the quality of fabrics, which I'm sure are lowered due to the bullshit, weak-ass PS3. Hopefully when the PS4 drops, SE will up PC's graphical potential, as I'm already maxed out on the current beta's in-game specs.

Game looks wonderful, though. Its as graphically impressive as TERA, but with much more expression in the characters, smoother movements and increased freedom.

Edit: Ragns, when you get the mod to have crotch buldges in lady mithra, give me a call.

I rather not key turn for "immersion" effect of my character shuffling to rotate, I need to move.. "RIGHT NOW!"

all my wut, you can have it.

Modding like it did for FFXI, will probably go for FFXIV as in... (that the community can easily use)

Nude miqo'te -> clothes mod for miqo'te -> hyuran female/elzen female nude mods -> galka female mods -> did I mention more miqo'te mods every step? I think so! -> boob mods for lalafell -> male mods -> futa type mods

although considering... physics and "jiggle" mechanics, I can see.. a lot of interesting mods in the future already...

Weird considering everyone I've shown it to was super impressed with the graphics and the ability to achieve 60 fps most of the time (with just a midranged gaming PC).

Although I do agree that they could tone down some of the effects so that it's easier to see during bigass brawls. (Supposedly you can in the options?)

Willing to wager that a lot of these issues may be resolved when the DX11 support comes full circle. My biggest (and really only) complaints in terms of the graphics are:

    A) So many jaggies. So many. Low quality AA sucks.
    B) The ground is very... shimmery anywhere more than like 5 feet away from your character. Probably an issue with mip maps/ansiotropic filtering. Not sure if anyone else noticed.

Not saying you have to slowly shuffle around at the speed of a geriatric, arthritic nursing home patient, but just... spinning there like you're in some sort of terminal junction from the Jetsons looks gross.

So, a few key things they really do need to fix, and it sounds like some of them will be addressed:

    • Instance Queues: Honestly, that's a real deal breaker, if it isn't fixed before launch. You're already seen the Beta pictures or experienced the problem, and release would only be worse, which is going to kill subscriptions right then and there, no matter how good the game is outside of it.

    • Post 3rd Job EXP: I know they said they are working on it, but after that third job, there currently isn't anything solid about reliable exp capabilities, and with a game that currently has 19+ classes available, for one avatar, that's a bigger problem then most people are realizing. To get one Job to have all of it's options, you'll need 3 classes leveled, which eliminates the efficient way to level (you'll still lose out on Duty exp for two of them). If you want a second job available, you'll need to level up to 3 more classes, and that doesn't count Disciplines of Hand.

    • UI Customization: They say it's going to be addressed in P4 and I really do hope it is because there is a lot of room for improvement, even if you can 'work' through it. There's just no need to have to given today's games and I don't buy the argument that it's okay because it took other games years to get there or that the community will mod it; it feels dated that you can't do some simple things.

One thing I'm also really woried about is the lack of multiple main healing classes. With CNJ being the only base main healer class, a lot of people are going to be stuck LFG even if there is a 'dungeon filder' coming; it's a ratio issue with the only other possible main healer being a Job, not a class (SCH). Yes, THM/ARCN can /sub heal early encounters, but how likely is that to be at mid to high level? Guess we'll see soon enough.

Some things that stand out but aren't game changers:

    • Server response: People rubber banding and Red Circle issues make for an obvious flaw in their current server setup. I hope it's resolved before launch as the red circle issue is of particular aggravation and was a big problem in 1.0.

    • Uncanny Valley: The character models look great, the landscape looks great, and the enemies, if rather copiously recycled, from FFXI, look awesome, but they don't tie into each other quite well enough. People have mentioned it in various ways: big teeth, glassy ground look, among others, and I think it's because the individual pieces look so well done that it's unfortunate there's an element missing that binds them all. Maybe it's because the Beta doesn't have all of the graphic optimization in yet, but I do hope that gets changed.

Most everything else is spot on, and aside from some scaling issues/encounter designs, on THM, I had a blast playing this Beta, and those can easily be addressed before launch. Really looking forward to improvements from here on out after experiencing what it currently is.

    Swap W/A/S/D with Num8/Num4/Num2/Num6
Move Num7/Num9/Num3 functions (I forget what they are called) to Q/E/R (this will eliminate Strafe Left/Strafe/Right/Autorun)
    Set Strafe Left/Strafe Right/Autorun to Num1/Num3/Num7
Home/Num5/Num* are Change View/Lock On/Submenu by default; move them one spot counterclockwise so Home=Submenu/Num5=Change View/Num*=Lock On

That's a pretty close approximation of XI controls (except menu is WASD)

I can see people disliking the graphics. As fantastic as the character/enemy models are, the environment is equally bad. Especially in the distance. But I can't really think of another online game with character models even close enough to these to warrant a discussion.

It used to be that you would step as you turned with mouse. Suffice it to say that a fast RB mouseturn looked far worse than than the current solution.

You have to remember that PS3 players will be expecting graphics at least as good as FFXIII and I don't think they can achieve that on the PS3 in an MMO.

as a ps3 player i was quite pleased with the graphics. honestly couldn't find a single reason to complain about them. but im pretty easy to please.
