I am curious as to what others are thinking of doing with their 1.0 characters at the launch of ARR in regard to appearance and the 1 time re-roll.
Keep your character's appearance as close to 1.0 as possible.
Make minor changes to your character, such as new hair style, tattoos, maybe a scar.
Change your character's race but stay the same sex.
Change your character's sex but stay the same race.
Change both race and sex.

Logging in to them and playing them?
Server transfer to another server then logging in with said character and getting my welfare relic
Sorry, it took me a while to make the poll I wanted.
Last friday night I spent 3 hours in just the character creation process looking at ever option for every race. I ended up making several characters fore fun but the one I started playing on ended up being close to my 1.0 character. So I am just wondering how many people want something now or are too attached to their 1.0 characters the way they are.
Same character new name
Better hair style, cuter face and that's about it. Was tempted to go manq'ote but unless I can cut the tail off I'm not interested.
I guess "Make a new character of a different type but same race and gender but make them look completely different" is not on the poll.
I'm very torn at the moment. I wasn't planning to drastically change Kiki, what with her being the XIV version of my XI character and all the years of history we have together, but I really am quite taken with the Roegadyn female I created. Tall, strong, beautiful, and she doesn't run like a girl!
It doesn't help that the voice I used for Kiki in V1.0 isn't available, so she doesn't sound right anymore. They may add it back in before launch though. If I do keep my Lalafell, I will give her one of the new hairstyles and change face marking.
I picked the first option only because I think I'll be simply making my character's eyes and her hair highlights only VERY SLIGHTLY different. No one will ever really notice except for me in the CS.
For my main, I'm keeping mostly the same look, though I might tinker a little with the shade of my hair and highlights. I love some of the new midlander hairstyles, but my character has had a similar look through years of XI and XIV, I don't have the heart to change her. Really, the most major change I'm making is adjusting the bust slider to about 90. Midlander females are a joke in the chest department unless you max that shit, and even then it's equivalent to like 50 on every other female (besides Lalas... ew).
For my Mi'qote crafting/gathering alt I'll probably be making more drastic changes, though I'm a little disappointed they didn't add much in the way of nice new hairstyles to them.
Then I'll be making a ton of mules, because why the hell not?
Switching from herp derp hume to mancat.
Switching from Elvaan to Man cat.
Not that I ever intended to play one but the default manthra standing pose is so stupid looking.
are we allowed to change name as well?
Yes.
Yep.
FFXIV: ARR has been created with an entirely new graphics engine, and has also seen the addition of new races including Highlander females, Miqo'te males, and Roegadyn females. In light of these changes, players will be given the opportunity to change the appearance of Version 1.0 characters. All aspects can be altered, including race, gender, and name. Please note that changes can only be performed once.
I dislike the thrusting pelvis and the ultra-curled angry fingers, but I can get with everything else. Humes still look too plain for me to run around with them forever. My boy has some badass animations, jogs and runs well, and his voice matches the look somewhat.

I'll be darkening his skin a bit for launch, but he's essentially done.
