This isn’t exactly a surprise given the hot anticipation and theatrical buzz awaiting Man Of Steel‘s limited opening Thursday and wide release Friday in 4,200+ theaters. But I’ve learned it’s official: Warner Bros Pictures is fast-tracking the Superman reboot sequel with its successful twosome already in place: Zack Snyder reprising as director and David S. Goyer repeating as screenwriter. Goyer’s deal is part of a huge 3-picture deal he signed at Warner Bros for Man Of Steel, the sequel, and Justice League with Superman. What is a question mark next time is the role Christopher Nolan will fill. To reimagine this 3rd Superman franchise, Nolan stepped in as producer and mentor and story co-writer. I’m told that next time Nolan’s producer role won’t be as “full blown”. Hey, he’s busy working on other projects, and now the sequel is on firm footing just as the first’s 3D and 2D grosses start rolling in.

Just because Man of Steel 2 has officially been greenlit, it doesn't mean Zack Snyder has had a chance to start working on it yet, because he's still doing press for the first film. While making those press rounds MovieHole talked to the director about the sequel and a few aspects of the first one.

The first film was great. It really took Superman to a new level. It wasn't without its problems, but it gave us a portrayal of Superman that a lot of us have always wanted to see on the big screen. Here's how the interview went down.

On the sequel – which we hear the studio has not only greenlit, but that Snyder has already got the setting and villain mapped out!

Snyder: "I’m going to be a hundred percent honest with you, I haven’t yet gotten to speak to the studio about all these awesome details (because I’ve been overseas on the junket). So my hope is, when I get home I can sit down with everyone and it’ll be like ‘Okay, so what are we going to do?.. we need to do something…”’

One of the questions they have to immediately address in a sequel:

Snyder: “We almost destroyed the world last time, now what!?’

Does ”Man of Steel” lead to ”Justice League”?

I really wanted to expand the DC Universe and I really wanted to make sure, in Superman’s world, that all that is a possibility.

Addressing a couple of fan complaints…

People have been like ‘there’s no kryptonite in the movie!’ and ‘there’s no Lex Luthor in the movie!’, and by no means am I saying those things don’t exist, I’m just saying he didn’t run into them here [this time].
