Thats basically what my WHM layout looks like just switched party and chat since my mouse is usually on that side.

I use F keys for targeting, so left is better for me. And easier to keep an eye on detrimental effects on all pt members.
Spoiler for size. Just got eyefinity working today, so picture is a little page breaking. Shrunk it down by 50%.

You play on two screens or something look extremely wide to me.
Looks like 3 to me, I'll be doing the same once my damn cable arrives
3 ... @.@;
When I got enough money I may try...

Donno if it'll be huge. Spoiler anyway.
I use a razer naga. Far left block is for simple button clicks, far right bar is shit and button clicks.
Middle column is E and Q plus shift and alt combinations.

Updated HUD for alliance mode. Quest log overlaps a bit if it has to many quests on it. But Party list has priority and goes over top, so not really that big a deal. Don't really need to see quests when doing a raid anyway. I have Alliance B & C in the new smallest setting, and Party list in the setting just below medium.
Updated again - using something similar to Xopher for center hotbars - all have a keybind for keyboard+Naga combo.

So I completely changed around my HUD yesterday. One thing I realized is my peripheral vision is getting pretty poor compared to what it used to be... and I needed to get more things bunched up together to see easier.
I've always sworn by 16x10 computer monitors, but now I'm finding for XIV the extra space puts things too far out of my sight. The whole bottom section of my screen now is unused and it seems quite the waste.
I could talk myself into a new monitor but I really want to wait for a good g-sync monitor to come out before I spend the money.
I've tweaked my UI quite extensively, but I've met a problem I'm not sure how to solve short of entirely resetting it, which I don't really want to do.
Whenever I'm in some context where I should have access to some special actions such as Magiteck's shooting on Praetorium or Bomb/Rock dropping on Copperbell Hard I cannot see the buttons for them to appear, even if I enable all the hotbars.
Would anyone know how to sort it out or suggest a way to test it out outside of an instance?
IDK about gamepad controls but for keyboard that stuff is on pet hotbar.
Edit: Wait, there's a button to drop copperbell hard rocks/bombs? I've just been rightclicking the carrying "buff" off.
You might try renaming your UI file just to see if that works before committing to a reset (or as a backup before doing a reset). In windows 7 it's at
C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\<randomstring>\ADDON.DAT
That'll let you know if it's a strictly a UI thing or somewhere else in the settings that needs looked at.
Does anyone know if there is a way to turn off or hide rather, active quests when in battle? Only way I can think of is manually disabling them being shown always, like if I'm about to do CT or a dungeon.
UI mode right click on it
Character config > hotbar settings > bar 7-10 are vertical.
