Who Are We?:

Elegy is made up of MMORPG gamers that have had a long history in the genre. Our guild members have played everything from the original Everquest to WoW, Guild Wars 2 and beyond. But the vast majority of our members played years of Final Fantasy XI on several servers in several high level linkshells. Our members have done everything from being part of a server first Nidhogg to defeating Absolute Virtue. Many of us come from the XI servers of Ramuh and Bismark and have a long term love of the Final Fantasy games and the MMORPG genre.

The companies leadership and many of its members have been playing together for a long time. Leading things as diverse as classic Dynamis runs right up through 25 and 10 man raiding in World of Warcraft. Our WoW guild has cleared content from Vanilla through Deathwing's demise (Yes, we went to Guild Wars 2 instead of MoP). We’ve formed close friendships with each other over the years and have played multiple games together outside of the MMORPG genre. We are concerned with having a Free Company environment that is conducive to camaraderie and team work and won’t tolerate childish or selfish behavior. For us, its not entirely about loot or progression, but about accomplishing our goals efficiently while still maintaining a fun atmosphere.

Personality:

We are a casual, relaxed group who plays well together. While we will be casual, we will be pushing content during our scheduled event times. We currently plan on having events run mainly during the week at times that are good for both the average Pacific timezone person as well as some East Coast players.

Our collective guild personality is one that is very light-hearted. We like to joke and goof about on event nights. We don’t get insulted or upset very easily, and we like to get to know our members on a personal level. We are a fun, casual, yet dedicated group of people who like to chat about things from the mindless movies and games to the more serious theorycrafting side of things. The type of player candidate we’re looking for is one that would be comfortable in this type of environment and more importantly, someone whose personality matches ours.

Casual/Crafting:

We strive to be an all inclusive group. We are not just looking for players who wish to participate in end game events. We want good people who are interested in fulfilling all sorts of roles. We don’t just want end-game raiders! We want and value players of all types. Whether you are a Master Crafter, or someone who loves to be a Gatherer or the person who just can't stop Fishing we are looking for you. Players that are here have fun and enjoy the camaraderie of the group by farming materials, collecting items and researching everything from recipes to Market Place trends to theorycrafting we have a place for you.

Raiding:

We are recruiting in ALL aspects of gameplay. Whether it be the Casual player, the hardcore crafter or gatherer, or the hardcore or casual raider. Our members have been all of the above in the past and we will continue to accept good people and good players going forward.

Once Launch hits we will be working on creating 3 8 man teams to participate in Primal and Dungeon content. We will then consolidate into a single 24 man group with the goal of completing combat in a fun and efficient manner.

24 Man Raids Delayed:

Elegy will continue to focus on maintaining a strong, mature and social community with an eye on participating in all aspects of the end game activities to be had in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. We may not get to raid as a 24 man group for some time, but I foresee us having a lot of fun killing Primals, Behemoths, Chimera, and famous enemies like Odin and Gilgamesh moving forward. The extra time will allow us to hit be equipped and ready to hit the ground running when the Crystal Tower is released.

Time Zone:

While the vast majority of our players are in the Pacific Time zone, we will strive to have event times that match up with people's increasingly busy schedules. We are not the kids we were when we first started playing FFXI and we now have responsibilities ranging from work to kids to law school. We estimate our times to be evening hours PST which works out well for later EST players as well. We also have quite a large Hawaiian contingent so we will have players active in the FC across a broad time range.

Casual/semi-hardcore people who are looking for a guild to also progress in end-game style, w/o needing to raid 7x a week should definitely look into the guild since that's who we cater to! We want to push end game content, but not at a breakneck pace.

Have gotten a number of new applicants. We are still looking for more. We are looking for DD. So if you want to play ARR in a casual, fun yet progression minded community check us out.

We are getting full, but we always have room for quality people and players. Even if you do not want to raid (when 24 man raids come out in 3-4 months) we have a great community with a wide range of time zones. We current range from EST to HST so there should always be someone on to play with.
