Talking about more than just how they play. New concepts, new lore, new appearances.
I had such high hopes for the original classes since they went through so much trouble to give them their own place in the game world. GLA were....um....gladiators, fought for money and fame. PGL were loan sharks and debt collectors. MRD were pirates/privateers. THM had some kinda weird life insurance/mortician deal goin....
I wanted more of that.
So where's all the P4 datamines? I want to see what Moogle Cap and Helm of Light give.
It does seem odd that all that's been out there is maps/songs...
People are probably a little more hesitant after what happened with the benchmark datamining
So. I know 1.0 had foolishly huge maps full of nothing and copy-paste, but is it just me or is Mor Dhona really... really small? Coerthas is a decent size at least, but Mor Dhona disappointed me a little bit.
While SCH is a better example being a lesser used job from XI's past put into the game with new mechanics, it's still a repeat in terms of style and theme (mortarboard, glasses, outfit, etc).
Essentially the prospect of hearing a class's name and not knowing what it would look like is what excited me.
What would a Marauder's AF look like? (WAR's AF is the only original set of the bunch, so they could have used that tbh but that's besides the point)
An Enforcer uses a club, I wonder what their role is, what they look like, how they fit into the game world, etc.
I desperately didn't want to just see XI's designs all over again and when I got my first glimpse of all the jobs standing there in XI AF (sans WAR) I was just so disappointed.

The implication that people give a shit about lore once it comes time to kill shit, for better (NIN getting a place as a tank) or worse (Every RDM that ever wanted to melee) for a given class, amuses me. Otherwise, GTFO of a FF game if you don't want the fan service, because you're looking at 13+ games of persisting ideas being re-imagined in their own way here. Plenty of other MMOs on the market if you want to play a not-white-mage healer class and so on.
For the moment, I find the overall script more worrisome, but I also felt XI was pretty much fan fiction a high schooler could write, which makes it all the more grating as I personally age.
Yes it's not like they took the time to create new classes, establish their presence in the game world, then abruptly invalidate them by introducing jobs from older games that are never seen or heard of in the game outside of their own quest lines.
That would just be silly.
MMOs evolve. Cope.
I'm of the mind the abandonment of classes was but one of many "Fuck You!"s by Tanaka before he had the rug pulled out from under him, and while Yoshi could've just handwaved them away in 2.0, realize it's almost as if they're paying homage to a mechanic that existed as far back as FF1 with Bahamut and class upgrades. In time, sure, it's possible XIV may churn out a unique job. It almost seems inevitable if they stick to the 1 base, 2 job mechanic. Hell, they could even bump that to 3 from 1.
Do you RP? Do you see this combat system favoring RP at all? Do you see why the origins of PUG, GLA, and THM don't really matter once we're out in the field? What matters is all jobs making some sense while being both functional and fun to play. I'd further ask if you've actually done any of the job quests to see how the game introduces them (and perhaps quested artifact), but I have this sinking suspicion that method won't satisfy you and I'm personally skeptical it's any good at all. Won't know until I do 'em myself. So, in what is likely a shaky implementation, I can't help but go on to wonder if you're okay with the trope of the Empire finding some old magitek shit and turning the world on its head in consequence. In reality, there's going to be a lot of things that suddenly "pop up" in future patches/expansions with no or very vague reference for the convenience of plot and the players, not unlike Adoulin or Aht Urghan in XI. If you're fine with that for zones, monsters, or even new spells/WS but NOT new (old...?) jobs? Yeah......
Finally, as someone who does like to RP, but not in my MMOs, I will say that in being too rigid the origins of some things can be a bad idea. They're already taking a bit of risk in locking jobs to cities at the start, as I could easily whip up a few ideas to circumvent that "plot requirement" from the player end. Inflexible theme jockeys have probably been some of the most annoying people to play with in the past for me, too, as it strikes me as them unwilling to think for themselves in parroting someone else's work unquestionably.
Will there be an option to re-select server with release? Or should i just start over?
Yeah cause you know all the other zones full of green aren't enough. I love the snow looks great.they cut a sizeable part of coerthas too
and all the snow really kill the mood
i prefer the lush green scenery than this
