Shocking CCTV footage of a full grown wild leopard entering an apartment lobby in Mulund, northeast of Mumbai, India and capturing a live dog before dragging it off and killing it.

A fixed security camera picks up the sleek silhouette of the big cat as it strolls into the lobby of the Lok Nisarg Housing Society.

The lightly coloured dog can be seen curled up, possibly asleep, in the bottom right of shot - oblivious to the approaching predator.

The large cat walks in to the housing society without a challenge and picks up the dog before wandering out into the night where it assumingly kills it.

Within a few seconds the leopard has closed in on the unsuspecting pet.
By the time the canine realises it is in mortal danger, the leopard clamps its jaws around the dog's throat.

The dog ferociously struggles in vain to free itself from the cat's vice-like-grip, as it is dragged towards the exit, during the video clip.

The leopard pauses for a moment, standing its front legs on its stricken prey, then darts towards the open doors.

The entire attack lasts little more than seven seconds before the dog is pulled out of camera shot and into the darkness of the Mumbai streets, where it is assumed it was eaten.

Surprisingly, the same dog was attacked by a leopard last year also, but it escaped by the skin of its teeth at that time.

Leopards have mauled or killed more than 100 people over the past decade in and around Mumbai and official attempts to solve the problem were making it worse.

Let's settle this: Big cats are way scarier than big dogs. If you live in India, or Africa, or Australia, or even some parts of America, and leave your pet outside and exposed, they will become a part of nature again one way or another. Around these parts (PNW) I'd rather run into a black bear than a mountain lion.

This just makes it asinine. Please reserve your sympathies for the dog, as a dog and not anyone's pet, and know it was ended quickly.

I was pretty upset when I saw that thing eat the other animal, but then I scrolled 2-3 posts down and found out it was a dog. in India at that, and not a cat and then I felt a lot better.
