Congrats man, didn't get in myself. If this were the Druid I'd be upset, but never played necro in D2, probably won't play it in D3.
Well my initial impressions: it has a lot of cool and unique mechanics, a lot more inventive than Crusader and separates itself somewhat from D2 Necro while remaining faithful at the same time. New dungeon area is cool too. Feels like it has a much more active and micromanagement intensive playstyle than the other classes, as to be expected. Some stuff seems straight out OP while other stuff seems like it'd never be useful, but it's too soon for me to say for sure. Will continue playtesting for the next couple days and put in a full report to Blizzard and copy/paste it here to give my full thoughts for anyone who may be on the fence as to whether paying money for just a class is worth it (no, I don't know the price, buying it in-game as part of the beta uses some special beta token so the price is never listed).
Seems pretty fun so far played for around 40 minutes. Lots of fun mechanics. It's kinda like a WD only with a lot more to do. Very active play style it seems so far.
How are the skeleton minions. Can you make a viable summonmancer? That's all I care about at the current moment.
That's how I'm playing atm. Tons of options for minions between all the different minion summon abilities and runes and it is completely viable to run a minion master build with the command actives. I haven't found any Necro legendaries or sets yet (probably because they can only be received from Kadala atm) but I imagine there's some cool minion ones.
You just earned blizz a few bucks. For all the builds I loved in diablo 2, nothing was more fun than coming out of act 2 normal feeling powerful as shit with your almost-maxed summon build. Better start stocking that elemental resist for them, though, or all the fire and poison will drop them!
Are there any rewards (cosmetic or w/e) tied to the necro beta? Cause I got in and don't even want to play it at all D:
Not that I know of.
Got into the Necro beta today. Necro definitely isn't my playstyle, but I can see the class clicking with a lot of players.
so whats the difference between necro and wd? seems like both are doing the same gig
On the surface, it probably seems that way, but it's got some mechanics going for it that WD doesn't like corpse management or sacrificing HP for ability use.
From my experience, you trade permanency of WD pets for control. With WD, you throw out a nado, soul harvest every once in awhile and hope your pets attack the right target. With the current Necro, you're constantly casting. I felt like I was always casting something, be it a mage or revive or command skeletons. But the amount of control the Necro has over the WD is pretty nuts. Just command skeletons alone is ridiculous. But the mage on a 6 second timer allows for constant positioning in favorable places. And reviving directly on top of the monster you're killing is great. I'll be interested to see how legendary items change the skills for this build.
Interesting...well I'll absolutely try it out when it goes live. Have then mentioned any kind of releasedate?
at blizzcon they said late 2017 or something like that. I'd say at the earliest late summer early fall? You haveta pay for it as well, remember. 15$ is my limit, personally lol even that seems too much for a class unlock. Maybe I'm being an entitled ass though
So I finally fired up the beta ptr. I'm still leveling up, but Corpse Explosion is stupid fun. It's basically Uliana's Madstone/SSS/Impending Doom straight out the gate.
How do I gear my WD if I can't get the seasonal rewards?
Well, what's the fastest way I guess.
I wasted my seasonals on that stupid barb I made.
Farm materials on Barb, craft stuff in the cube on WD until you have some usable crap. Grind.
Crafting?
Pls explain. My barb is tits useless.
