    So apparently the blacksoulstone can't be destroyed, even by the dude who killed the most-powerful-can-never-be-destroyed baddie that came out of it. Even though the whole point of D3 was to put them in the soulstone to hulksmash it again (I'd assume at the hell forge) who cares that it didn't work in D2!?

    Oh and we killed perhaps the only guy who'd know how to tinker with the blacksoulstone, even though he was immortal (and the only interesting character aside from maybe Shen in the D3 franchise). Because... well shit I couldn't even tell you lorewise why we killed Kulle. Mostly because it made no fucking sense.


    I was just hoping for some major retcons to get things back on track, oh well. I swear they write this stuff while watching Saturday morning cartoons from the 90's high on LSD.

    Information known at time of creating this thread
    Note: Some of this like loot 2.0 is probably PC specific since consoles are already getting some of the tweaks.


    Important Characters:
    Malthael, the former angel of Wisdom is seemingly the main antagonist.
    - Angelic wings of bone, dark and grim appearance. Can drain life and so on.

    New class:
    Crusader.
    - A mid-range class with shields, flails, and heavy armour.
    - Very paladin-esque.

    Abilities include:
    - Shield bash.
    - Fist of heavens.
    - Shield's Flare.
    - Falling Sword.
    - Law of Valour.

    New Area:
    Westmarch.

    New Level-Cap:
    Level 70.
    - More skills.
    - More runes.

    New Monsters:
    Confirmed so far:
    Seraph.
    Summoner of the Dead.
    Executioner.
    Death Maiden.

    New Items:
    Confirmed so far:
    - God Butcher (Flail).
    Mentioned:
    - A Wizard wand that now has a greater chance of summoning hydras, and more of them.

    Story:
    Malthael wants to end the eternal conflict by destroying all demons. The Black Soulstone is meanwhile hidden somewhere on Sanctuary by the angels and the Horadrim. But as we see in the opening cinematic, Malthael steals it, nearly killing Tyrael in the process.

    Loot 2.0:
    - 'Smart Drops', items drop less but when they do, there is a chance stats are tweaked to suit your character.
    - Less 'junk' loot (white, yellow, etc.) - but the stuff you do find can be 'Smart Drops' sometimes.
    - 6 new Legendary items.
    - Legendaries will be build-changers.

    Paragon 2.0:
    - Now account-wide.
    - No longer a cap (!).

    New Artisans:
    - Transmogrification (change item looks).
    - Enchanting (re-roll a rare legendary affix).

    Loot Runs:
    This is a new feature with randomized 15-20 minute dungeons to mix up the endgame a bit.

    Other notable features:
    - More focus on endgame variety.
    - Transitions between external and internal locations are now seamless.

    Absolutely loving that the new paragon system is account wide. Means I can play crusader without feeling punished. <3

    New loot looks amazing too. Hoping to hear something or anything about a ladder.

    the guy in charge of D3 seems to have done a much better job at it than the previous fuckwit and seems to actually like the franchise more. The random dungeons are good, more of those = more like d2 and such

    Loot system is the entire game. You don't need the expansion for it. So you can try it before buying the expansion.

    Curious how they are going to implement the level cap in regards to current gear. I guess our current gear will just keep their level 60 rolls and be pretty useless in comparison to the new lvl 70 rolls. Makes wanting to play until the expansion seem pretty stupid. :/

    The only carrot I see to keep playing now is potentially easier paragon levels, depending on how they choose to implement preexisting levels into the new system.

    I can safely say this is the kind of direction I wanted the game to go and I'm super happy to see it... Its really nice... I look forward to trying it again when the expansion hits and the loot 2.0 comes along.

    Seems like this expansion make in fact open a Portal to 10 years ago through the destroying of that idiots mistakes.

    Can't wait to see how they plan to implement Paragon levels for HC. Lost my P61 HC Barb to a client crash awhile back. Would make HC deaths due to DC/crash a lot less stressful if paragon was account wide for HC as well.

    Interesting, seems you 'Assign' Paragon Points to a character. So you earn them with 1 hero but can put them onto another? #D3RoS
    @Narull Correct. All normal characters on an account will share a Paragon level, same for Hardcore, as well as earned Paragon Points. (Twitter)


    What about dying in HC? How will that affect your paragon levels? Loss of applied points to that specific character?

    Eh. I'll stay away from this one until a I watch a few streams and such. Blizzard is about a half-step higher than EA's Sim City launch with how D3 opened up and finished up.
