Wow, super late, bleh. Oh well, there's the official response for ya.Gear and any materia already affixed to said gear will no longer be lost as a result of a failed melding attempt.
OK, I knew you no longer lost the gear but I didn't know you could now spam multis with zero risk of being worse off than you started.
You only lose the materia you're attempting to meld.
In your case you'd lose the CP materia.
EDIT: oh god when did I open this tab, like 5 posts appeared after hitting reply. Sorryhttp://www.poke-amph.com/heartgoldso...prites/079.png
Well, sort of worse off, you do lose the materia you where trying to meld, which for folks going for min/max builds on pieces could be alot of gil. however, yeah the fact that you keep the base items with current melds intact is very very cool. I'm liking this prospect of being able to run instanced dungeons with spirit bond gear on, and getting to convert it to materia (duty finder makes this especially useful)
DOL harvest the mats
DOH make the gear
DOW/M turn the gear into Materia
Profit is generated at all points.
Does the goblin remove all the materia currently melded to an item or can you pick and choose which materia to remove? I never got a chance to test this out during the last phase.
Tangentially related: the requirements for special mats (coke, potash, animal fat, etc.) have dramatically increased since phase 4. It is now 9 coke and 2 darksteel nuggets for 1 darksteel ingot, for example.
So how exactly do you slot materia in high level gear if your craft is not 40+? I thought they were adding something but for the life of me I don't see it.
There's a meld request option to get someone else to meld your gear.
So when you ask the goblin to remove the materias, does he just remove them or destroy them too?
Destroyed, the materia market would be extremely dead otherwise.
any google docs on stat caps floating around out there? I'm looking for stat caps on DoH AF stuff. Used a craftmanship IV on my HQ gold boots and got 1 out of it....
Caps for
HQ AF hands: 5control, 4craftsmanship, 0cp
HQ AF feet: 5control, 1craftsmanship, 3cp
I'll add the caps for the HQ body and offhand when I get melds later today
I forgot to edit, but I ended up not capping any of those pieces since I reached the two star numbers on LTW without having to do so. Sorry
HQ militia offhand caps seem pretty high though. It's at least 16 craftsmanship (III+III+IV was still white). Control is past 4 and it would not surprise me if it went all the way to +10.
