It's a very last priority. Set it on crafts that can get away with it, use it when you've got just enough cp in your finisher for it but not enough for anything else.
Am I losing my goddamn mind or do the recipes for the Straw Capeline and Pearl Roselle Capeline not fucking exist in-game.

http://xivdb.com/?recipe/30498/Pearl-Roselle-Capeline
They are nowhere to be found in my crafting log.
They're in master recipes, from the demimateria book iirc.
I was certain I bought all of those a long time ago but I guess I missed that one <_>
Would be nice if there was a way to know whether you have a book or not (or which books you have).
The problem is that it's tough to devise a way to use that CP elsewhere.
Does Innovation give more quality? If so, you're going to be getting 12 less progress, so (if your progress actions are tuned properly) you'll have to make up that progress somewhere else. And you can't get any additional turns because durability restore/reduce costs at least 56CP.
Really, it comes down to whether IG2 allows you to drop a progress action somewhere else in the synth; if it doesn't make any difference in your current progress solution, then skip it. Personally, I try to solve for solutions that allow me to lean on CS2 as much as possible, as I don't like losing synths due to failures on progress actions.
Yeah definitely don't count on it for progress actions. The key # was determined to be somewhere between 452 and 459 craft that you PbP+2x rapid + 2x cs2 for 4-star (non furniture). Get to that tier and you've got it as good as it gets for now, as far as progress actions go.
Are lots of people using 2x rapid in their synth progression? For four star? I know a lot of people just view it as a hasty touch and deal with it that way. If it succeeds, throw a hasty touch in, if it fails use rapid synth again.
I'm at 493 craftsmanship non buffed, so I think I have some options others don't.

At 493 Crafts you can do PBPx2 Rapid CS2x2 without ingenuity.
Quickee edit
Working on my 4* rotation, this is what I've come up with so far:
http://link.ffxivcrafter.com/?id=cbfQq
If I get any ToT procs, I use them in the first part of the rotation. I use them all. The first one lets me use a SH2 after the first SH2 wears off, every ToT after that lets me replace a HT with a BT.
Anyone got anything they like more?
I need a bit of help with a rotation change.. I am not a 50 crafter in anything.
WVR31, LTW24, ALC,CUL,CRP 20, BSM25, GSM30. The plan in motion is to take them all to 50.
My standard rotation was IQ + SH + HTx4 or 5 depending on the dura and then use Master Mend and SH + HT an leave enough dura to finish with either CS or BS.
In the case of GSM and WVR, I've noticed I can't reliably HQ doing that anymore, and sometimes HT will fail like 8 times in a row. The RNG for a 50% skill I know can't be helped until CUL37.
My CP is 250 across the board, using gear appropriate gear for each craft level(and no melds yet). I can get by with Basic Touch but then I hit a bit of a CP issue unless I use Rumination.
Have not tried waste not/ingenuity(don't feel I need it), and manipulation because they cost a lot of CP.
Yah, you're just dealing with the issues of leveling, nothing really strange in what you just said. If you made a beeline for ALC50 and WW50 that would give you comfort zone and byregot's. Byregot's is a game changer for HQ, every craft uses it.
It won't help your hasty touch issue. I just failed a four star synth last night for a friend cause Hasty touch didn't go off, even with SH2. I used reclaim and reclaim failed too.
Basically, you are doing shit right, unless you wanna go get Byregots.
I just had a Basic Synthesis fail with Steady Hand up, wtf? Wouldn't it be 100% under it
Anyway, I intended to take WVR to 50 first, but looks like I have to change plans.
Edit: phew, it was Basic Touch, haha >_>
Returned to the game recently. Can someone succinctly summarize the steps to go from 50 basic crafting tool (from questline) to 4* capable in the most efficient manner possible? When I got my Supra rod for FSH, I was actually able to skip the Forager's rod entirely. I'm basically wondering if there are similar shortcuts now, particularly with the new-ish crafting accessories.
You can skip the foragers step for all tools. It's not really a shortcut that needs to be described, you just ignore the foragers tool and work on Supra instead.
Strictly referring to DoH mainhand tool upgrades...
i55 Quest Tool -> i75 Supra
Craft 5 specific NQ 3-star things and have 3 MC demis. Each of the crafted things takes 2 FC3 Demis, so 10 total. They don't have to be HQ, so it's basically impossible to fuck it up. These things to craft are in one of the Master books, but I don't know which. It's either master book I, or the demimateria book.
i75 Supra -> i90 Lucis
You'll need 20 moonstones (obtained from Deliverance Ixal daily, treasure maps, or bought for 4k GC seals each), and 60 class-specific items (obtained from Lv45 [class] leves, or bought for 600 GC seals each). You'll need to craft 20 HQ things with the 60 items (3 per synth, along with a few other ingredients). These are 40 durability synths, so it sucks. For any that you NQ, you can turn them back in to Talan and he'll give you most of the materials back to retry your synth.
Master Book 2 [Optional]
You'll need to craft 3 HQ of the 3-star things mentioned in the Supra step. If you NQ these items, you can turn them back in to Talan and he'll give you back ONE FC3 Demi.
Obviously, in order to actually hit the thresholds to craft the items required, you might need to upgrade your gear and/or offhand.
If you want a MIN/BTN Lucis, I'd suggest you get started ASAP. Gathering 99 HQ items from an unspoiled node (so, once an hour) is certainly not difficult, but jesus fuck it sure does take a lot of gathering attempts until you're done.
So far, it's cost me roughly 9M gil to upgrade my DoH and DoL visible armor, meld it, and obtain Lucis and i70 offhands for WVR/LTW/BSM/BTN. Make sure this is a path you want to go down before you do it.
Thanks Raldo. I was only going to do it for one or two crafts (GSM, LTW); I'll give GSM a whirl and see what the bank account looks like after that. Currently trying to rush GSM desynth first.
GSM desynth will hopefully take your costs down compared to mine. I have to buy all my MC demis you apparently can't desynth any of the i70 artisan armor except for the glasses.
I wrote up a quick reddit reply on this the other day, basically assuming money isn't too much of an object you can hit a good starting threshold with (all HQ where possible):
i55 blue tool (work on getting Supra)
Artisan's (offhand)
AF head (work on Artisan Specs)
Artisan's Apron
Artisan's Mitts (or Ixali i70 gloves if you have them, slightly better than unmelded HQ Artisan)
Dodore Belt
Artisan's Culottes
Artisan's Sandals
Rose Gold Choker
Mosshorn Earrings
Militia Wristlets
Aetheryte Ring x2
All unmelded, this should put you well above the requirements to make your Supra. Melding will ease you into requirements for everything else.
Skip all of Talan's other Artisan gear besides Spectacles because it's basically just equivalent to melded AF.
Fish up already cooked fish steaks yasss.
Also remember "60: Heart of the (class)" skills are specialist actions. Think it was only 3 specialists per character.
