Can we talk about gathering rotations for the Diadem crafted materials crafts? 35 durability at 1-star difficulty is roughing me up.
Trying to make the 2.0 HQ relic quest items (perfect firewood etc.)
I cant find the recipe required to make the items to turn in for the master 2 books. I cant find them on the MB anymore either. How does one obtain reinforced spruce plywood and reinforced darksteel wires? I can't believe they took them out of the game.
Somehow I have the perfect Vellum recipe though. No ltw master 2 book.
A few things...
1) In order to craft the 2.0 HQ relic quest items, you do not need the master 2 books, you only need the master 1 books. That's why you already have the perfect Vellum recipe. Perfect Firewood? Master Carpenter I. Perfect Cloth? Master Weaver 1. etc.
2) If, for some reason, you do still want to obtain the master 2 books, the Garlond Tools database should provide all the info you need. For example, if you search for Reinforced Spruce Plywood, the item's "Crafting" tab will show that you need the "Master Carpenter 1" recipe book. Clicking that book link will show you what you need to turn in and where to obtain that book (in this case, it says you need to turn in 1 HQ Treated Spruce Lumber to Talan in Mor Dhona -- Did they nerf that? You used to have to turn in 5 of them...).
3) The items that you trade for the master 2 books are not available on the MB because they're untradeable. They are used in no recipes, and their sole purpose is for the master 2 book turn-ins. They made them untradeable because they didn't want people to be able to buy their way to those books.
Thanks
I thought I had all the master 1 books >.<
So has anyone found a use for Heart of the Crafter? At 45 CP, using it for CP gain is sketchy; you either get CP+15 or CP-5 (or, if you're very unlucky, CP-25). Spending 45 CP to get an unpredictable quality*1.25 also appears sketchy when you could spend 5 more CP and use a very predictable Ingenuity II+Innovation. And using it with Precise Touch to gain extra IQ stacks seems like a sidegrade compared to using Waste Not I+Hasty Touch.
Overall, it seems like HotC would be better balanced if it cost 45 CP or a delineation, not both.
On a side note: is there any appreciable logic as to why retainers can gather chimera hide, amphiptere skin, and aurum regis sand, but not birch lumber or adamantite ore?
Adamantite Ore is an unspoiled node? I don't think they can gather anything from a HW unspoiled node yet. Retainers can get Birch Logs, which I assume is what you meant and not the finished product, so idk what you mean.
Offhand, I haven't used any of the crafting spec actions since they all require good procs that you just don't get at high level recipes.
My own question. Nowadays, to a new crafter, would you suggest saving up redscrips for the i180 weapon or craft the i170 meldable version? I know in a max meld situation, the 170 is better and you can meld CP, but is it worth the hassle?
Sorry, I did mean birch logs and not birch lumber, but are you sure retainers can gather the logs? I thought it was only the worthless branches.
I actually ended up doing full pentamelds on the i150 omnicrafting set (plus i170 belt and accs). I felt that going that route, combined with i180 red scrip mainhand and melded i170 offhand, was the best bang for my buck.
With i180 main and i170 off, I'm at 843 CRF/755 CTL/418 CP before food.
They added normal "hidden" items to retainers in (I think) 3.1.
ie. ores, logs
Yeah, they did.
And I was mostly asking from the perspective of someone who hasn't been capping red scrips. On my main, I got pentamelded-ish leftside and new accs/belt and 170 weapon/OH, since it was much cheaper at the time to do 170 mainhand and it's only a small bit less mainstats.
Yeah, as everyone says, they added "hidden" items from HW basic nodes to the retainer ventures, albeit at a lower yield.
As far as red scrip tokens go (both crafting and gathering), I've been using them solely on main-hand tools. As of now, I have all 3 gathering tools and 7 out of 8 crafting tools (missing CUL, which I can probably get either next week or the week after). Keep in mind though, this was over the course of roughly 6 months since Heavensward came out. If you haven't been capping red scrips, it might be worth it to hang onto your tokens and see what 3.2 brings; I believe we're supposed to have another Live Letter this Saturday, so we may learn some things then. On the other hand, being able to make the 2* pieces may help prepare you for what 3.2 has to offer. I've just always entertained the notion that saving up your currencies right before a patch is usually one of the wisest things you can do, as you can then potentially buy the newer/better stuff sooner.
Personally, I went for the main-hand tools because I didn't like the idea of having different gearsets for each DoH/DoL and then having to meld all of them all over again, most likely needing tier V materia for optimal setups. I like having unity in stats across all my crafting jobs because otherwise I may have to remember to use alternate rotations for crafts of similar difficulty. Also, I felt like it wasn't worth it when most of the current 2* crafts are just more crafting gear, or battle gear that no one's using. Just my 2 cents.
Body/Offhands/Main hands only ones that would 'require' T5 materia, but you can do with out. I finished all my crafting sets and got the nq sets for Cul/Alc cause I don't care much for the jobs. Plus I am tired of crafting all the pieces/farming favors. Left with 2 gathering scrips and just fishing gear left to buy on the left side.
Can always meld the left side gears with t4 materias, not like they are terribly expensive atm, and if and when you can get your hands on t5, just remove/remeld.
I also have most of my gears already crafted, just been lazy to finish up the last few sets, but already have the materials premade, just a matter of sitting down and gettin shit done. Missing fisher AF2 set tho, cause fuck Patience II and the fuckin eels.
Left sides should only be T4's. Control/CP will be the money spending so put those in 100% slots. Will have to overmeld but save Craft+6 for that. Those are like water from airship ventures.
They raise the rate. I wanna say 50% on phases that can get a good, possibly higher. TBH they're nearly broken in how good they are. Only rarely do I only get 2 goods, and that covers the cost when you factor in the whistle stack, saving your progression for when satisfaction's up etc.
Specialists actions? They are still mostly useless. Ive NEVER used them to craft any of the 2 star items, and have a full set of gears on all my crafters by now, NQ´d One ring, cause shitty RNG NQ´d at 94% Lol.
The few times I tried to use Innovative touch Under SHII it decided to fail twice in a row, so I said fuck it and never looked back.
