26 red scrip tokens for offhands too. Rings are 3, all other accessories (belt is an accessory) are 6.

So should I keep getting Red scripts for the new items, or should I work towards crafted gear (for crafting)? I want to be able to craft myself Max Int pots and Apple Strudel.

The offhand is decent enough, but the rightside is all garbage.
Even my poverty melds shit all over them. For time/cost it'd take to get the red scrips and counterfoils you'd be better off just buying and melding those, so they've missed the mark completely.
As a very casual crafter I'm not even really sure I want to bother continuing to cap scrips. I can make 2 star stuff just fine, but to make 3 star stuff it'd be 4 more weeks of scrips, and needing to use HQ Seafood Stew to just barely bridge the Control gap and still have a decent CP pool to use.

Serious crafters already have max melded i170, the right side accessories are garbage, not worth it at all. Im glad the full BIS crafters that max-melded i170 HQs have a reason to be that now, feels good man.

Can anyone help this novice crafter?

I am currently a WVR 60 with all lvl 15 actions unlocked from the other specialties. I am really struggling making hQ items and even script items w/o using HQ ingredients. Is there any rotation ideas you could share or tips on solid items to spam for scripts? I do not have great gear atm as I just hit 60 ( 537/488 w.o food, 315 CP) and I need to work to buying master books and gear from scripts.

You really, really need byregots (carpenter lvl50) and Steady Hand II (Culinarian lvl37) as bare minimums. Comfort Zone(Alch lvl50) Is also great to have.

I am leveling an alt on a different server, and just having Comfort zone, byregots and Steady II makes HQ´ing anything a breeze.

may want to upgrade your gear too tho.

I want to upgrade my gear but I need scripts. I don't have a ton of money to buy gear since weaver has not made me any money at all.

Still, it seems the only way I can enjoy the job is to spend a ton of time leveling other specialties to 50. I was hoping I could at least make due with the skills I have.

SHII + Hasty + Byregots make or break a synth. You can sub byregots blessing for the new HW Byregots if you feeling really cheeky, but still want to get SHII. And By upgrading your gear I dont necessarily meant get the red scrips gear, white set Chimerical/serpenskin can go a very long way.

Just FYI, if you use food (e.g. Seafood Stew) to hit the Control floor necessary to attempt a craft, it does not kick you out of the synth if the food wears off in the middle. (This is as opposed to Ixal dailies, which do kick you out if the buff wears during the synth.)

So, I'm looking to get my BSM to be able to 2/3 star reliably, but I've been so lazy with gearing since 3.0, that all I have is the Forgekeep's Hammer. I need some advice on where to go to start from here. My gear/stats:
    Craftsmanship: 778 Control: 718 CP: 353
    Spoiler: show

    Forgekeep's Hammer
    Adamantite File(+4 Control)
Chimerical Felt Turban(+6 Crafts, +4 Control +4 Control)
    Chimerical Felt Doublet(+6 Crafts, +6 Crafts, +6 Crafts, +5 Crafts, +5 Crafts)
    Serpentskin Halfgloves(+4 CP, +4 Control +4 Control)
    Dragonskin Belt(+6 Crafts, +4 Control)
Chimerical Felt Skirt(+4 Control +4 Control)
    Serpentskin Shoes(+4 CP, +6 Crafts)
    Hallowed Chestnut(+4 Control, +5 Crafts, +2 Control)
    Dragon Fang(+4 Control, +2 Control, +4 Crafts, +3 Crafts)
    Hallowed Chestnut(+4 Control, +2 Control, +4 Crafts)
Hallowed Chestnut Ring(+4 Control, +4 Crafts, +2 Control)
Hallowed Chestnut Ring(+4 Control, +2 Control, +5 Crafts)

Is there a way I could eat food to make up the CP I'm missing, or will I need to suck it up and re-meld/force some CP 4s somewhere and be ready to lose a lot of gil?

    @Dathus:

    http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/TCW8

I believe this is close to what I'm currently using for my specialist crafts; feel free to experiment with it. I was trying to find a setup that didn't require the use of the job-specific crafting gear because I didn't want to have to make and meld several different sets, but it barely squeaks by the 3* stat requirements and you still have to use HQ Seafood Stew (granted, that's probably the best crafting food available atm).

I believe the red scrip offhand tool would also work if you didn't want a 2* crafted offhand. You won't have to meld it, but you'll probably need about 3 weeks worth of red scrip tokens for it. I've also heard some people use the 2* crafted bodies and then meld them accordingly.

You could probably get away with using HQ Beef Stew or another craftsmanship/control food if your stats got to a certain point, but your CP will suffer. Granted, most of BSM's current 3* crafts are the Replica Allagan / High Allagan stuff for glamour, so you probably won't be trying to HQ it.

However you do it, you probably will have to invest a good chunk of gil regardless. My FC often sends our airships out to get crafting materia, so if that option is available to you, that can help significantly.

That'll get you by this patch, but come next crafting update everyone will more than likely need each gear set melded for their specalists. Or if there is new universal gear.

Here's hoping there will be a new "Artisan" set, then. I remember I ended up melding each of the old i55(?) crafting/gathering sets back in the day... never again. Probably one of the most expensive endeavors I've done in FF14, and it took up way too much Armory Chest space.

I'm not much of a glamour guy so having an individual set doesn't hurt too much. Specalist classes are the only ones I've melded to the extreme but across 3 different characters. Going to have to meld the rest for when recipies aren't locked behind it.
